You fail to consider that one of those two players was their captain, the player most likely to, if not prevent, then at least rally the team and stop the bleeding. I'm simply suggesting that being without two of their most important players leveled the playing field enough so that the Kings were easily their equals. I don't know why that's so hard to admit. The Red Wings were #2 in the conference and the Kings #7 for a reason; they were not equal teams when everyone was healthy.

The Avs won the Cup in 2001 without Forsberg. The Red Wings still had a great team with Fedorov as their center. Oh and the Wings won the Cup the year after the Kings had eliminated them. Only difference was that they had Hasek in net rather than Osgood and some signed some guys named Hull and Robitaille.

So a #7 seed taking the 2001 Champs (the Avs) to a 7th game was a fluke too? What's your excuse as to why we played good in that series?

The Kings lost, didn't they? I rest my case (which is simply that the Wings and Avs were better teams).

So the Kings played horrible in the series, despite taking them to a Game 7.

Lets keep in mind that Colorado won the cup that year.. And if Detroit was the better team then they would've beaten us in the first round, and not let us win 4 straight games.

You do not want to play an Alberta team in the playoffs, just ask our Canucks
