Tyutin on the Pwp.

Not going to say that Fedor had himself a great game. He screwed up on the first Surovy goal. However I have been wondering why lately the Rangers continued to insist on using Malik and Roszival so much on the powerplay and why Tyutin was hardly getting a sniff. In today's game he looked pretty good from the point. I hope
Mr. Renney will use Fedor more there.

And although I may get lynched for this...I still like Poti on the 1st PP Unit, he has earned it and played well on it. Like you implied though eco, he should replace Malik or Rozsival on the 2nd...

I'm all for giving Toots some time on the PP. He's got a goal and 3 assists in his last two games.

also, Tyutin made some really obvious mistakes, but he made a lot of good plays as well

I totally agree. Poti has been playing exceptionally well for us, especially on the power play. I think Tyutin should see some time on the point tho maybe on the second uinit tho, although the second unit is used very sparingly.

Agreed. I felt he had a really strong game against the Isles with some minor mistakes sprinkled in. Today was a little bit of an adventure but like you said, as many positives as negatives. I wonder if he doesn't benefit more from playing with Kaspar. I am not saying that Strudwick brought his game down as Tyutin himself is making better plays...

If it means that Malik doesn't play on the PP, I'm all for using Tyuts.

Tyutin needs confidence, putting him on the point on a PP gives him confidence if he plays well back there.

Plus like Singin said...if it means Malik isnt back there on the PP..then im all for it.

Tyutin is still a young player. I think he had a very solid game today.

Over the last several games...

Malik and Rozsival have been taking a back seat on the PP. Malik hasn't seen much at all and Rozsival has seen his time decreased, and his time with Jagr and the first unit decrease even more.

Point is that if Tyutin has the ability to be a No. 2 defenseman like many of us I hope would think he can-- then he is not going to be just a stay at home d and he is going to need a two way game. We're half way through the season and we've been watching Poti and his 13 pts. and Malik and Roszival and their 9 pts. each and Straka and now Rucinsky and none of them have been all that hot on the pwp at the point. We've hardly seen Fedor except for maybe the last couple games and here he is all of a sudden and there's a goal and an assist and he didn't look nervous he handled and passed and shot the puck very well. Malik really is a stay at home D. He has no business being on the Pwp except late in games when we're up by a goal if you think his defense is going to help you preserve the lead. We need to put Tyutin in situations which he should certainly be able to handle which will help him grow as a player. And to be honest with you I like the way Poti has played the last couple months more than I've ever seen him play---however saying he has earned all this powerplay time when he hasn't really produced a hell of a lot with it doesn't make sense to me. I don't see how he's earned it anymore than anyone else.

I agree eco's...

although on the PP at least, Poti has more points per PP minutes, for whatever that's worth. I think Poti and Tyutin would complement each other well on the PP.

Poti's been showing some signs of awakening here Fletch so I don't really have a problem seeing him used on point right now. All I'm saying is he's not really put up that much offense this year for us on the pwp. And the Pwp is something to me that is stat driven. You either are producing points or you're not.

Poti has one goal on the pp after half a season, Tyutin has one goal on the pp after one game. The numbers speak for themselves, who's earned it?

so by that logic what's your starting shootout lineup next time?
let me guess:
Malik
Strudwick
Nieminen

by the way Poti has 2 PPG

What I've always liked about Tyutin on the PP is that, (1) he gets his shot on net, and (2) he handles the puck with poise. I don't think he can quarterback a PP like Leetch, but can man the secondary point, and put himself in shooting position.

He's got a nice, hard, heavy shot. I'd like to see more of Tyutin on the powerplay.

One thing I dont want to see is the Kondratiev-Tyutin pairing in the near future.
