Salo Vs Dunhum

It was noted back in the day that Sather went after Dunham before going with Salo. Looking back who would you rather have today?

I think it depends on what we would of had to trade to get Dunham, I would say their even in skill but Dunham is a year younger and a little cheaper but I am quite happy with Salo and his performance for us to this date, although I feel his time in Edmonton is passing(price+age+detiorating skill set within the next few years gotta get value for him now). I choose Salo since we got him cheap and has been quite good for us, he also loves playing here and we love having him here its the perfect match.....awww

Correct me if I'm wrong - but wasn't Dunham an Oiler for about 10 minutes in the post-cujo period?

No he wasn't. I believe NJ wanted Mike Watt and Boyd Devereaux for Mike Dunham.

Looking back, I would've been all over that.
Of course, hindsight is 20/20

OK, getting Salo is quite easily the best deal this franchise has ever made (as far as being one-sided). Tommy has been our MVP EVERY year, and although he isn't as consistent, when he's hot, there's nobody better!

I think the fact that we can't even get Dunham's name right indicates how he hasn't exactly been an elite NHL goalie in the last few years.

I don't know about that. Dunham has had one weak season in 02/03 but hasn't had anything lower than a 0.906 since he broke in the league back in 1996

I was jokingly saying that obviously he can't be that good of a goalie or we'd know how to spell his name.

No one says Hashek, right?

I think you're thinking of Eric Fichaud, who Sather called the Oilers' goalie of the future, and then dumped before the season began. Then he retired at 24.

Fichaud is with the Montreal organization and is playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs.
