I emailed the guy (Glenn Wiun) responsible for the music played at Oiler games, then I spoke with him at the Thursday night game. He said I should poll the readers and come up with some suggestions for songs... especially an intro song for the team to come out to.
Game 1: "Ready to Roll" by Flashlight Brown.
Game 2: Something by Danko Jones.
He says it's hard to come up with a good intro song that isn't over used. And they were hoping to not use old metal songs so much.
Give me a big list and I'll pass our HF Board choices. Who knows? Maybe YOUR song will get picked!
Song 2 by Blur, it would be great for when they score.
OH GOD- that was old and over used years ago!!!
But I like the idea of Headstrong though! It's fast enough, has suitable lyrics (have to edit out any cusssing, although it is minimal). Jimmy Eats World's Sweetness would be good too. I don't think Sabatoge is much of a song to get the fans into the game....... But I will say that when I was at the home opener and they played Flashlight Browns song I was VERY pleased with the choice - it's perfect (I was gonna mention it when we were talking about this before, but that was the song on sportsnet, and I didn't know if they'd do the same song as one that's on TV). Well Adjusted by MXPX? Not sure if it fits, but I love the song.
OH YA! PLEASE tell me that that band thing they had going in intermissions was just a one-night thing!!!!!!! OMG they sucked!!!! JUST BRUTAL!!! I MEAN TERRIBLE!!! I MEAN PATHETIC!!! I MEAN PAINFUL!!! I MEAN BRU- oh ya... already said that one..... well... you get my point!
I'll suggest Faint by Linkin Park, but would be in favor of Sabotage. We need something catchy like the Canucks "Where the Streets Have No Name". For Whom The Bell Tolls, or Seek and Destroy by Metallica might do. One more, The Evolution Entrance by Motorhead is pretty cool, I just can't figure out what the title is, its better than The Game, and Dallas uses that.
P.O.D. - Boom
Nonpoint - What A Day
Powerman 5000 - Bombshell
Linkin Park - Numb
Trapt - Headstrong
System Of A Down - a lot of songs, lyrically I guess they may not fit, but the music sure gets me pumped
I'll toss out a few again. Keep in mind this will be an eclectic mix and will have songs that don't suit everyone. I just ran through my MP3 list and picksed some. Judege however you like.
I am still sticking with some AWK, not because he is great, but because it is mindless catchy high energy music.
