Defensive job by Visnovsky

hello Kings fans.

I wonder some questions about Lubomir. Everybody knows i was very strong with his offensive play. But i have some questions about his defensive play. i know he's with a ratio +18. It's very good but sometime, the stats don't give all pieces of information.

Is Visnovsky also very strong on one on one in his own zone? And his defensive play is good or not? Did Visno do some good checks? In short, is Lubomir reliable in his own zone!!?

Thanks a lot

He is very reliable in his own zone, but relys on postioning more than physical play.

Yes and he's also a terrific stick-checker.

Positionally and fundamentally, Lubo is one of the best defensive defensemen in the league. Because of his size, he will never overpower anyone but he uses his skill and positioning to compensate. I have often said that if Lubo was about 4" taller, he would be a Norris Trophy defenseman.

Lets start a Lubo for Norris campaign. TSN had a poll the other night...and didn't even include him!!!

I bet if he played in Toronto you would hear his name used in connection with the trophy every week.

I really don't think that Visnovsky is all that great a defender -- he's too small -- but he does deserve a lot of praise for overcoming his lack of size by playing positionally and using his stick. As far as compensating for his lack of size, he's one of the best and an example to other small defenders. As for defense, I'd call him a "good" defender, and that's still a big compliment. Very few (if any) players are "great" at offense and defense. That should be kept in mind when evaluating Visnovsky.
