Esche's status? When is he expected to come back?

It's been close to 3 weeks or so since Esche has been out again. Has there been any updates on his progress?

You could get Boucher back from Phoenix who makes less than $1 mill.

Or, give Jamie Storr a chance to see if he can backup Niittymaki.

He was listed as "two weeks" after coming out of the game on December 15. So it's not been almost 3 weeks yet. It's been 2-weeks and 3-days.

Who cares? You have Frank

When Esche returns it will be a hard battle for the starting goalie. Hope that Niitty gets that

Personally, I think Frank is playing much better than Esche was. I know Esche will have a shot to get back his #1 position, but I think with all that Niitty has done, Hitch should keep that in mind.

Niitty has stepped in with the opportunity and performed very well. Over the last 9 games as a starter he has a 2.33 GAA and .925 save %. With that kind of a performance, I don't see how you can take the job away from him. I liked what I saw last year as a Phantom, especially in the playoffs. I like even more, what I've seen this year, especially the last 9 games with regular playing time. Niitty is the man (and Finland the hot place to find a goalie).

If Priemau is out for the rest of the season we should have some cap money to bring in a goalie for 1 mil and maybe Doug Weight. Just a thought. i heard them talking about it on 610 WIP. I wouldnt mind Doug Weight. He is a solid center.

Then what happens with Carter and Richards? Oh wait, their playing goes down at the expense of a "veteran" who has seen better days. To hell with Doug Weight and Keith Tkachuk and all those other clowns that are going to cost us an arm and a leg for a few weeks worth of rental. Give the ice time to Carter and Richards and let them become the players they can be. The whole spoonfeeding ice time crap is exactly that. Give them the ball and let them run with it. Yeah, they may fumble it once in a while, but that can be tolerated and they're only going to learn from it. I'd rather that than gamble on someone like Weight or Tkachuk. What have Weight and Tkachuk ever won in their careers? They've won nothing. Maybe it's just me, but at least Richards and Carter have winning pedigrees. While it may not be NHL winning pedigrees, they've played in big pressure games and have won. That counts for something.
