Fortunately , save one or two occasions, they haven’t needed the services of a heavy weight in Manchester yet this season. Lately, the opposition hasn’t dressed their big guy(s) when facing the Monarchs. However, I have my doubts that these trends will continue as the season progresses. They do have a couple of big guys in Petiot & Mormina but they just aren’t the enforce types Petiot throws his weight pretty well but Mormina hasn’t figured out that part yet. I really wouldn’t have minded seeing Rullier still here.

See that's what I mean. And what if some ******* ala Buckley takes out one of the kids, who's going to pummel him? Petiot? Mormina?
We as Kings fans have been cursed with either really good fighters who can't play (Crowder, Flinn, Brennan) or guys who can play but are terrible fighters (Rychel, McKenna, Parros). The guys in between, Grimson and McSorley were huge successes here, but they could do both.
It would be nice to have someone in the middle. Rumor had it the Kings went afer Domi in the off season. Though Tie is on his way down in his career, he can play, fight, and still intimidate.
With Cowan and Parros out, no one is scared of running anyone on the Kings, and even with them in the line-up the opposition knows they can win the fight because those two aren't devasting fighters.
Edm has Laraque, Anaheim has Fedoruk, San Jose has Parker. Those are scarety, tough guys who can hurt you. Hopefully, either Parros improves his fighting or the Kings pick up a guy who is both a good fighter and a decent player.
If Parros and Cowan come back Monday, and Avery and Kosto are in the lineup, we are back to that physical team that is a nice aside to the skill the team has.
I personally am willing to let Parros learn on the job. He is getting better- Simpson and May are not what they used to be, but remember George played 4 years without having to fight in college, so he is still learning. No one has really clocked him yet, and he seems to know how to get out of trouble.
That's not true. A lot of us are fine with Cowan and Parros, but with them out, another body would be useful, especially if they could be sent down to keep an eye on the kids. Give me someone like Bonvie for the farm. Could come cheap and would keep tabs on
things in Manchester, and if need be could be a call up much to the chagrin of Tubby.
Exactly. Manchester is soft as hell and it would be nice to call up a gritty guy who can stir stuff up with Cowan and Parros out and Flinn maybe out for awhile.
Look at Philly, they have guys like Gratton and Eager getting called up and throwing the body around and stepping in and helping out Brashear. We have a bunch of 5'10 skill guys from Manchester stepping in for tough guys like Parros and Cowan.
Granted, he is no Nick Nickson, but this guy might have a valid opinion...
Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky says he doesn't advocate fighting but he recognizes the value that can come from it. "We don't encourage it, and I would never tell a guy to fight," he said. "That's not part of my makeup or personality. As I say to the guys, if a guy wants to fight, and he's capable of fighting, (so be it)." On-ice skirmishes can provide a jump-start, he said, and when they happen he knows his team won't back down.

And winning key games versus division rivals, dammit! Just admit it, you like fighting more than the game of hockey. It's so freaking obvious.
I've been a boxing fan for going on 15 years, and I have thousands of hours of fights on tape, which I watch pretty regularly. I'm no softy. However, this "tough guy" stuff left the game right around the time Jay Miller cashed his last check.
There is plenty of toughness in this line-up, whether they drop the gloves or not. I'll take Matt Ryan throwing his weight around for four minutes a night before watching Ken Belanger trying to play catch up. I'd rather see Jeff Giuliano diving nose-first into a pile of guys who weigh three times more than he ever will than I would Kip Brennan pumping his fists once every couple of games.
We have two players who can play the game in Parros and Cowan. Both guys are out for the time being, but will be back pretty soon. You saw what happened to Flinn when he was called up - he got KTFO on his feet and then split his head open while doing the only thing he is capable of on the ice. It's a fools errand to think Flinn ever has anything to do with the outcome of a game. Now Tom Kostopolous, he is a guy who makes a difference. But because he pulls a Bucky against Morrow, somehow he's not tough enough to matter to his teammates?
