The Caps desperatly need a #3/#4 defenseman. Anybody availible? The Caps would be offering forwards in return.

I would gladly give up Brad Bombardir for a pick.

i would say denis gauthier might be worth a look. flames have a d man to spare and would need forward help.maybe a pp specialist or a playmaking winger. what are you willing to give up .consider the flames would not want to pay more than 2 million/year at the very maximum

The Caps need more than just 1 - 2 dmen. Ah, they just look so bad out there. How many shots are they averaging a game 19? :/. They need some help quick. The team can't be carried by Gonchar alone.

The Flyers will give you Chris Therien, free of charge.

Although, we could always use some new hockey sticks and some pucks.

Well that isn't a bad top four (I THINK that Boumedienne is in their top four though - don't think Yonkman is there. Depending on how Eminger comes along, I think they could use a good Dman on the second pairing. As an Oiler fan I'd LOVE to move Cross .... by 99% of peoples opinions he's nothing more then a 6-7th Dman, but he's playing on the top pairing, so we must be wrong?

Right now its:

1. Gonchar
2. Witt
3. Eminger
4. Doig
5. Boumedienne
6. Kwiatkowski

Ghastly.

Yonkman was hurt much of training camp, and was sent down to Portland.

Lang, Nylander and Zubrus seem to be the most moveable Caps' forwards. Lang's starting off the season well (4games, 2g, 3a, 5pts), Nylander's hurt (broken leg, out another 3 or 4 weeks, I'd guess), and Zubrus, who had a good camp, hasn't been playing particularly well.

I like Zubrus a lot, but one deal I heard suggested in the off-season was Zubrus for Gauthier, straight-up. I'd also seriously consider the Lang/Schneider trade.

Wok, Yonkman is in Portland right now.

They have Doig, Kwiatkowksi, Gruden and Boumedienne in addition to those you mentioned.

Vaunted Defense for sure.

When all are healthy they go Gonch-Kiwi, Witt-Eminger and Doig-Gruden with Boumer in the pressbox.

JF Fortin has been brought up while Gruden and Witt are out and as such he and Boumer are both playing.

Blues will have some extra D when they start getting healthy and by the look of things we could use a scoring winger.

I would not if I were the Wings. For purely financial reasons.

Lang makes 5 mil, which is a little over his market value, but not ridiculously so. The problem w/ his contract is THE LENGTH... I believe it's got AT LEAST 3 more years to it.

Schneider's contract runs out after this season

This leaves the Wings w/ A LOT OF money tied up LONG TERM. Whitney, Lang, and Hatcher... not to mention Joseph for another two years.

Too many long term contracts for the Wings to handle IMO.

If they needed one that bad they could of had Timander from the Isles for free (Waviers). Well, his 1.2 mil salary of course.

Well it was reported that McPhee wanted to pick up Brookbank when he was on waivers...probably because he played for the Griffins

Our D is so sad right now, especially with Witt out. Kwiatkowski has been getting #2 d-man minutes from Cassidy. In fact he leads the league in shifts taken. The Caps definitely need some help but I wouldn't be too interested in Schneider. Maybe a younger guy that could play on the 3rd pairing with Doig. I'd also like Yonkman and Berry to get a shot at some point.

Nylander is the guy that I'd be most willing to deal when he recovers from the injury. He only makes around 2 million and is a good second line center. Any offers for him involving a d-man coming Washington's way?

If Mike Greir is available i would part with Vishnevsky for him.

I would have to think about that, he's as injury prone as Leclerc and McDonald.....
but where we we put him? takes time away from players like Chistov and Lupul

Out of Ducks D-men, (there won't be a trade until Carney returns at the end of the month) and I would say Todd Simpson or Lance Ward are the most available,

I would have to say picks would probably be something we could look at

I wouldn't mind Gauthier for Zubrus,
hell lets expand the deal to include that useless turd Chris Clark.
Caps-Denis Gauthier, Chris Clark
Flames-Dainius Zubrus, Ivan Nepriayev
