Ribeiro,Markov and les habitants

Throughtout these first few games, everybody gives the credits
to the team's sucess to Ryder,Ribeiro, Theo even Claude Julien. But where is this team without Andrei Markov?

He is now our no 1 D-man 3 steps ahead of Brisebois *imo

He is tied for best scoring on the team. BUt he'S a D Man !!!!

The problem is we have commentators in montreal who tell us:« Avez- vous vu la passe savante,brillante,magistrale... De ribeiro? »

Ribeiro this, Ribeiro that...

Its not like i dont like the guy. I just think he gets too mutch credit
after 4 games. Some people might be ready to trade Koivu to let him play!

IF After 45 games hes had 40 points then i would be happy to hear:
« Ma foi Yvon... il continu de nous éblouire par ses trucs de magies.»

For now i give all my props to Markov. Hes all star material in my book.
*IMO I hope he keeps it up

I don't think that it's these commentators trying to slight Markov or others on the team, but they, like us, are excited that Ribs is finally showing some of the promise we all expected. With Ryder, its more a feel good story of a long shot, late round pick making the team and doing well. Markov had his break out year last year, so his doing so well was kinda expected more than the other two..IMHO.

I have to agree... you have to give props to Ribs!!! Everyone is excited about him because this may be his breakout season. Yes, it's early, but he is playing extremely well. Last year, it was the same for Markov. Everyone was talking about how well he was playing.... I do disagree that Brisebois is our no. 2 D-man. What about Souray??? The guy is solid defensively, plays with a mean streak, and is contributing on offense.

As I said after game #1, Markov should have over 20 min every game (the first game Julien gave him 17 min, and the 3 other games he was over 20 min and what a result!). When this guy have an ordinary night he looks like Traverse having his best game!

IMO Markov is the best player of the team, give him left wing position and he will become a 70-90 pts player.

Could anybody tell me when Markov's contrat is due to be renegociated?

Looks like it will cost Gillett a fortune...

Didn't he just sign this summer for two years?

It would be nice to have a defenseman on the team who can log 30 mins a game on a consistent basis.

Markov is coming along! Lets see as the season progresses though.

I don't think we'll have to wait too many more years for that... Komi and Hainsey are developing well. Beauchemin is coming along nicely, and we've got darkhorse guys like Shasby, Archer, and Korneev (personally i'm a huge fan of his because he's exactly in the mold of markov... can play forward and defense equally well and he's been in the RSL for two years now and he was one of the younger players drafted in his year).

markov has lots of skill but i don't think 30 minutes a game would be good for him physically!

Also, hats off to Ribiero... and to Hossa too. Hossa has been working his butt off and i think he's a large part of the sucess that line is having, opening space for Ribs by mucking in the corners.

GO HABS

I think we're all knowledgable enough hockey fans to know that Markov has played some amazing hockey in the last 3 games and was indeed the Habs best player. Who cares what the commentator say? They're only there to make a show out of the game really. I miss those playoff games from a few years back when the CBC was on strike... Only the sounds of the game and the crowd, no one talking. That was amazing!

I also think everyone is giving too much credit to Ribeiro. I like the kid and all, but these "TRADE KOIVU!!! LET RIBS PLAY!!!!!!!" are really stupid. Judging by past history, Ribeiro likes to get management and fans excited with his play during a certain stretch, only to go pointless in his next 40.
