I watched a couple of the Slovakian games during the tournament. It seemed like all their plays were through Reway. So all the opposing team had to do is keep an eye on him. So that's pretty much what I saw, teams would just make sure Reway was covered. No other offensive threats on that team.

I would not say Grabovski has had a remarkable career...

I would be extremely surprised to see him with Habs when the season starts. He's weak defensively and needs to play on a north american size rink against men for at least half a season before being considered.

In no way is he ahead of Andrighetto and Carr.

It's not like he's never played on North American ice before. He did play his junior in Gatineau. While I never followed his career overseas, he was fine defensively with the Olympiques.

As far as I'm concerned, I wish him good luck and the same goes to Habs and their fans, you gonna need it. Hope I'm awfully wrong about him and his development but I saw what I saw here in Prague when he played for Sparta.
Don't really see how it is a mistake or a risk, if he sucks he can go back to Slovakia to smoke some darts and play slot machines.

2012...it's still way too soon.

Fucale is progressing well.
We saw DLR over 2 seasons, not bad for a 2nd rounder 3-4 years after this draft.
Chucky is about to be a 1st line center?
Hudon is very promising.

This could be an amazing draft, we'll only know in about 2 years.

That I would agree with. Heck he was less touted that his countrymen AK and SK but he is the only one still in the NHL.

You're confusing the two years

Our 2nd round picks were collberg and thrower.

Collberg made sense. Thrower pick was bad and worse in hindsight.

I think he can put up a PPG in the AHL, but as of right now I don't think he's anywhere near MT's starting lineup.

I actually look at this as a plus though. If at 21 years old he was the complete offensive focus of a decent hockey country's World Championship team, that's pretty positive.

Can someone explain to me the whole Reway and Lehkonen situation? Why do players subject themselves to an NHL draft if they are not willing to play in north america? Am I missing something?

I honestly think Reway and Eller would be a great fit together..... in a trade package.

I think it's a bit more complex than that.

You don't know want to have a Gallagher, Guetto, Reway RW for example (I know he's mostly a LW, but you know what I mean).

We can't become wing-locked by a side being too small.

You're mixing 2 drafts.

Fucale and DLR are from 2013.

Chucky and Hudon from 2012.

Size matters less if you have talent, brains and heart. (see Tampa). After that, all you need is a coach who applies a playing style that compliments his players. As in: don't tell your small, speedy forwards to play dump and chase against 6'2" defencemen. Big, nasty players play a grinding game and do it well, not guys like Plek.

The day this organization gets that, is the day they turn it around.

No but let's say for example

Patches-Galchenyuk-Gallagher
Lehkonen-Plekanec-Scherbak
Hudon-McCarron-Reway

I think we could get away with that.

It's mainly his nature... He's been productive even with a small ice time but 99% of fans were happy to see him go and that should tell you everything. Maybe they will make him a whole different person in the AHL, maybe not. Let's see, definitely gonna be interesting to watch his progress.
