Parros to IR; Avery out with injury; Clarke recalled

(from Kings press release received via e-mail)

KINGS RECALL NOAH CLARKE AND PLACE GEORGE PARROS ON INJURED RESERVE; AVERY NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY

LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Kings have recalled left wing Noah Clarke (under emergency conditions) from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League and have placed right wing George Parros on the injured reserve list (retroactive to December 29) due to a sprained ankle, Kings President, Hockey Operations/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today.

Clarke, 26, has 25 points (6-19=25), 21 penalty minutes and a plus-9 rating in 32 games with the Monarchs this season. The 5-9, 193-pound native of La Verne, California, also has zero points and zero penalty minutes in one game with the Kings this season. Originally selected by the Kings in the ninth-round (250th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Clarke has one point (0-1=1) and zero penalty minutes in three career NHL games all with the Kings.

Parros, 26, injured his ankle against Colorado on December 28. Originally selected by the Kings in the eighth-round (222nd overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-5, 232-pound native of Washington, Pennsylvania, has four points (1-3=4), 56 penalty minutes and a plus-5 rating in 23 games with the Kings this season.

In addition, Kings forward Sean Avery is not expected to play tonight due to injury.

The Kings (25-14-2, 52 points, first place in the Pacific Division) host Dallas tonight at 7:30 p.m. at STAPLES Center. The contest will air on OLN, Radio Disney 1110 AM and along the Kings Radio Network.

No mention of Cowan. The L.A. Times said that he'd play tonight.

Does the "(under emergency conditions)" mean Clarke is not subject to waivers?

C'est correct. Emergency conditions don't count towards waiver restrictions.

You have to wonder if Sean pulled a tougue muscle in the lockeroom talking to a coach. He looked OK at the end of the New Years Eve game.

if Cowan was really coming off IR and ready to play tonight, then the Kings wouldn't have needed to waste the plane fare on Clarke

Wow. Its starting again. At first you don't notice them and then they just kinda pile up until suddenly you have an injury problem...at last it hasn't gotten to the top guys yet.

Its a little crazy. We have lost 5 forwards and 2 d-man. Thats 1/3rd the team. Thank god we have depth this season.

Hate to break the news to you, but you HAD depth. All you have left are little green prospects. The only depth you have left is Hauser in goal.

At least its just the 3rd and 4th lines. EB and Miller are the only ones that are really important to the team.

So long as the 1st line is solid/healthy and the 2nd line is clicking with Cammy we should be ok.

The difference with the past few years is that at this point in the season we didn't have a 1st line. I can deal with the checkers and enforcers being the injuried ones instead of the 1st line players!

Parros out, Cowan out, Flinn out and still the Kings don't pick anyone up to add toughness to the line-up. D Brown gets smashed of course tonight because a Dallas team with Erskine, Ott, Arnot, Guerin, and Morrow looks down the bench and sees no toughness on the Kings except for Gleason and punching bag Kostopolous.

Manchester is soft as a sponge, why do the Kings have to be also..?

Some talk about it in today's LA Times.

Forward Sean Avery "An upper-body injury."

Avery is believed to have a shoulder injury.

Later, Murray said that Avery and Brown had MRIs exams Tuesday, but that neither "showed any structural damage."

"Guys classified as day to day, we're not giving out too much information," Murray said.

Don't know, it's the every famous "upper body injury". Kings are notoriously tight lipped when it comes to player injuries.
