I for one don't want a goon, i.e. what I know you consider a goon Tubby. But I do want some toughness in the lineup that currently consists of Tim Gleason and Tom Kostopolous as our two toughest guys. With Parros and Cowan out for so long a stretch, a big body on this small team wouldn't hurt.

With Parros as close as he hopefully is to returning, it doesn't make sense to acquire another guy.
That being said high ankle sprains are a mother.

Trust me I know all about bad ankles. It's what ruined my college career. Reconstructive ankle surgery on my left ankle. Even if DT doesn't get someone for the Kings, because I'm fine with Parros, someone for Manchester at least.

I liked when he said Arnott doesn't even show up for half the games he plays and told that one caller that he is on drugs if he thinks Kip Brennan is a better player than George Parros...lol.

true that Ottawa has McGrattan, but Detroit certainly doesn't need one of those in the lineup. Dallas didn't even dress Perrott last night (a point *I* made on KT) and who REALLY cares about Jody Shelley... It's a whole new world out there in the NHL, and the Kings, when healthy have plenty of toughness and grit. As for Manchester, I do believe they could use a big body on that roster because most of the crap that doesn't ever see the light of day in the NHL does seem to rise as high as the A.

That's what I mean. I'm fine with Parros, he can go with teh few remaining heavies in the NHL, but the AHL still has and probably will always have bush league tactics going on and that is where you need a big body to go and handle things.

There's no reason why the Kings need Parros in their line up.

It will be nice to get Cowan back. He's got a nice balance of size, gritty play, and speed/skating ability.

From your lips to god's...

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I remember the long arguments I had with Arankys (anyone remember him?) about goons. The traditional goon is a thing of the past, nor would I want it on my team. Show me a team of 18 skaters that can all stick up for themselves and you will see a team that no one messes with.

The single tough guy policing things is ancient history because nothing has been accomplished by one goon pounding another goon when that is what they are paid to do. No one sat on the bench and said to himself, "Gee, I better stop taking runs at the other team because their big guy just pounded our big guy."

Now it's about team toughness as evenly dispersed among the 18 skaters as possible. 18 Gleasons/Browns would be awesome.

Agreed.

With Miller/Norstrom/Gleason being our tough gritty defenseman we're alright there.

Our forwards: Avery/Cowan/Kostopolous/Brown/Roenick (to a certain extent, and you know he'll be back in the line-up)

And even Giliuano has a grittiness about him. And the thing is (with the exception of Roenick) everyone listed up there are good hockey players.. Why do we need Parros?

In answer to his question: "Which heavyweight goons CAN skate"?

Todd Fedoruk, Donald Brashear and I don't think Boogard is THAT bad (in a Steve McKenna kind of way)

And sorry Tubby, I disagree with you on Parros. He stinks.

By the way, notice how Matt Johnson and Peter Worrell, two of the toughest customers aren't even playing in the NHL this year?

Thats ridiculous..

Why? So we can have some guy with long black hair go skate around, and lose his balance? He's a bad player, and there is no room for him.

He's since cut his hair, and yes the stats show we're better with him in the lineup.

Statistically, George Parros is behind Nathan Dempsey, and Mike Weaver in points. And in no way (except fighting.. well.. maybe not even that the guy can't even stand on his feet) is Parros a better player than Grebeshkov, Kanko, or Giliuano.

Parros is this year's version of Jon Sim and Brad Norton rolled into one player. There's no logical reason why he makes the team better, he just does.

So far all we've been able to determine is that it's probably not the hair.

Side note: McGrattan is a UFA this summer, fight fans.
