I said since a long time that for me the mean problem isn't Ribeiro but the fact that our key leader is always getting injuries.Or you deal him , or you put him in a lesser important role ( second centerand cut his salary )

Iam really tire about all the bad threads or posts about Ribeiro , i read here everydays , so finally , yes , why not trade him ?

The real question now is ;

So , it's a thing to say bye bye to him , but who is going to takes his place , do better than him , in the same kind of salary range ?
Bulis!

Trading Ribs doesn't solve very many problems. The guy is only on a 1 year 1 mill deal. So at worst he'll be a restricted FA at the end of the season and we might get a compensatory pick if he signs elsewhere. Nobody will take him especially if he is playing like he is now. Same goes for Bonk, we should waive that POS ASAP.

The big problem right now is Theo. The guy has a lengthy deal and is making $5 mill per year. Who would be willing to take a chance on him? Vancouver? Colorado? Florida?

It would seem that only Colorado would be a viable posibility for a trade. Right now they have a 3 goalie turnstile running with Budaj, Aebischer and Kolesnick. Aebischer is not having a great year but he's only making roughly half that of Theo.

With the tendancy of MTL players playing better in Colorado (Brisebois, Roy) maybe they'll take a flyer on Theo and then they'll have their big name in nets. At least that would allow more salary room for MTL to beef up our D and get some more scoring... and we'll have the Swiss Miss in nets. Not great, but good enough for now until Price hopefully comes around.

I'd say keep Bulis as 2nd center to see if he can continue playing well and then try to bring Hejduk so they can play together on the same line (they played together last year)

FYI: Bob Perno, Ribeiro's agent, coming soon on CKAC radio...

Didn't hear the time, should be before the game.

They played the exact same way as in Montreal they just had/have a better supporting cast.
Roy couldn't be better cause he was the best. And Brisebois still sucks at D, he just has a better PP unit.

He is on CKAC now...

He is saying that quebequers are hard on french players.

English medias since the beginning of the season are on Ribeiro's back and say things we don't need to hear about his personal life and Ribeiro is tired of this.

He was asked what about Mike's effort ?? He sais this is Mike, he seems to not give effort but this is his style, he gives the effort but he just doesnt show it (!) !

I would love to see Oleg Kvasha with the Canadiens. He's really big (6'5 230) and he's a LW/C. He will be a UFA this summer, so he probably doesn't have a big value.
My proposal :
to NYI : Ribeiro
to MTL : Kvasha + a pick or a decent prospect

not bad idea . May be he could also be better in the second part of the season , considering that he was '' cold '' at the start of the season .

Problem is that we don't have 40 years old player that we could to the Leafs , to get him .

You can't seriously be citing this guy as a source. He's a joke. A lot of people slag Eklund here, but he's like Don Cherry compared to that hockey leaks guy.

He's just a rah-rah Leaf fan pretending t be connected. Haven't you ever noticed on that site he always cites the Leafs as a team interested in EVERY player.

Just in that link you gave, he has Sergei Gonchar being targeted by the Leafs. Gonchar. He makes $5 million a season. How the hell could the Leafs get him? He's a sad, sad joke.

Mostly, he just recaps the games at the end of the night. I have no clue what the point of doing that is but he does.

BG is apparently talking to the people at CBS...they need a new guy for the Young and the Restless, and Ribs just may be to their liking...

I'd stick with Bulis for this year. He led the preseason in scoring a while back when he played his natural center position. Maybe he'll finally find his offence.

I'm sorry is this the official Ribeiro trash talk thread?!?

Well, I think that we don't necessarilly have to trade Ribs and Dags as a unit...although everyone will agree that the only reason Dags is in Montreal is because he has a good chemistry with Ribs. I'm seeing more Ribs, Dags, Zednik for a power forward, or a big mobile forward with good skating which equates to the same thing.

My Dream trade would be Theo, Ribs, Dags, Zednik for Todd Bertuzzi and Alex Auld.

We've the second line covered with Bulis as a secon line centre, clears out the dead wood and gives us a big mobile guy to go into the corners for the first line. Canucks get a #1 who can get them into the playoffs and some talented players to make up for the hole Bert leaves.

I'd like to see Gainey deal Ribeiro and Dagenais for D prospects - dosen't need to be somebody that can play in the NHL right away but I think that is where our biggest weakness is. Our forwards are fine and we have a lot of up and comers than can replace driftwood soon enough.. solid goalie prospects but.. who on D? Emelin? Cote? Archer? Hmmmm...

I wonder what it would take to get a guy like Seabrook from Chicago.

I'm glad Gainey didn't listen to the média and give Ribeiro the contract he wanted . The pressure was high because he's french speaking and did lead the team in scoring but Gainey didn't get fooled by the médias . I can't imagine being stuck with Ribeiro @ 3M for 3-4 years

Maybe, but I think that if Theo had a team who can play defense and block the teams from coming into his zone he'd be different. That and maybe without the pressured of being a Mega-star in Quebec would give him some slack and he'd find his confidence again. Or at least that's what most teams would bet on IMO.

3m over 3-4 years wouldn't be bad...but the longer a contract the more costly it becomes it would more likely be $5-6m for 3-4 years and that would be scary.

Whatever it is, I hope we trade him to a place like St Louis or Chicago or Columbus where you actually have to earn your press time, as opposed to be entitled to it just because you happen to be from a place where mediots think locals are Gods.

The media have made Ribs a star, but unfortunately his on ice performance hasn't followed suit...

We are talking a lot about trading Ribeiro , because he's not producing and his lack of speed . few peoples proposed to get this or that player .

I went to the NHL site and look for the 60 first centers stats , to have a better overall look to ''who would be the best candidats for the second center of our Habs''.

I didn't take th etime to add the salary of each player , but theis something we have to considere before proopsing a player .

Tyler Arnason , Scott Gomez and Pierre Turgeon are the ones that appear to be the most realistic choices .

But as i proposed last week , i see more that our perfect 2 nd center could be Saku Koivu , if we can get another first center that is less injury prone . If we look the rank of Koivu in this list , he 's in the first tier of the 30 to 60 list .

I know that he didn't play as much games as the other players of the list , but it is always like that with Koivu, and that 's why i would prefer him to have a less important role.

Your propositions are ...
Hmmmmm what me to be honest, our of that list i see only about 2 players Ribeiro can be traded for.

Daymond Langkow. He doesnt have a stellar year at all, playing with Igninla.Id see a trade with the Habs comming.

Brenden Morrison.Henrik as taken the no.1 center spot IMO.Maybe vancouver are reay to move him, but might cost more than Ribeiro alone for him.

Thaaats it.
