It's great to be able to clearly see how that happened. What hand-eye!

Great video. I couldn't tell from any of the angles what exactly happened. The announcer said Peter's made the save. But now I know why Stanton lost his **** before leaving the bench area. That was a great!

The video was compliments of a guy on the Cleveland Browns "Scout" forum. The video might have been better than any angle the TV stations had.

How about that crowd?

Excellent video. I was at the exact opposite end when that happened. It was as loud as I can ever remember that place for a hockey game. I hope the entire upper bowl is open and full Saturday, not just the sides like last night.

Bjorkstrands hands are amazing. Both goals he took out of midair and still was able to get really good power behind it.

Thanks! The AHL deals are hard to keep track of across the league.

There's a thread that keeps pretty good track of it on the AHL board. You may want to use that as a resource.

It is absolutely no surprise Bjork is playing so well.

Remember, he played very well in his stint with the CBJ last season. He has already proven he can play in the NHL, and it is great that he was able to return to the Monsters to lead their play-off run.

12 games, 4 goals, 4 assists, and a +6. I believe he had an impressive shot % as well.

He IS an NHL player!

If you extrapolate his 12 games into a full season, he would have lead the team in points.

Not saying he would have done that....but that potential is right there. With Saad and Wennberg....that's just a perfect line (if all maximizes their potential). One pure goal scorer, one physical presence that also has great hands and a pure setup man.

Headed over to the Q on lunch break to snag tickets for Saturday. Im thinking it may sell out. Lower bowl is already sold out, so if you had planned on coming, I'd pick up tickets sooner rather than later.

Saad's points-per-game was slightly higher. That said, Bjorkstrand did lead the team in P/60:

Hartnell's P/60 was that high even with his terrible post-deadline performance? Wow.

Hartnell is such a hot and cold player.

....if you were a GM, would you want a guy that scores 25 goals by getting 1 goal every 3 games, or a guy that scores all 25 goals in 12 games?

Want a guy that can win you games when he is hot....or a guy that's a steady eddie?

I'd want a healthy combination of both

I'm not so sure I see Hartnell as a hot/cold player; rather he was a tale of two halves - great first half and a below par second half. To me that's different that they guy whose goal total is skewed by recording a series of multi-goal games (a la Foligno last year, whose low goal total was quite uneven).

Phil Simon passed today. He helped keep the torch for hockey in Cleveland going though the lean years of no teams. He, along with Jock Callender, was the thread that went between the different franchises that have played here.

I haven't rigorously compared it to other players, but I suspect if you look at Hartnell's splits he really is quite streaky. He's put up 10 pts in 10 games or something close to that many times, and then also zilch in just as many games. Hartnell's second half I don't remember being a problem until March.

Damn, I was hoping he'd live to see the Monsters win it.

May his memory be a blessing.

Any corrections I need to make with Lake Erie's list?

Lake Erie Monsters (Columbus Blue Jackets)

Under Contract

Forwards: Josh Anderson, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Paul Bittner, Brett Gallant, Markus Hannikainen, Keegan Kolesar, Jordan Maletta, Sonny Milano, Nick Moutrey, Kerby Rychel, Justin Scott, Lukas Sedlak, Kole Sherwood, Jamie Sifers and Daniel Zaar

Defensemen: Dillon Heatherington, Dean Kukan, Markus Nutivaara, John Ramage, Blake Siebenaler and Oleg Yevenko

Goaltenders: Oscar Dansk, Joonas Korpisalo

Impending Free Agents

NHL UFA: defenseman Justin Falk

NHL RFA: goaltender Anton Forsberg, defenseman Michael Paliotta and forwards Alex Broadhurst, Michael Chaput and T.J. Tynan

AHL UFA: goaltender Brad Thiessen, defensemen, Steve Eminger and Eric Roy and forwards Seth Ambroz, Ryan Craig, Derek DeBlois, Peter Quenneville and Trent Vogelhuber
If this is intended to figure out who might actually be on the Lake Erie Roster next year, then a lot of things have to be changed.

Forwards: Anderson and Bjorkstrand are almost certainly going to be promoted. There's at least a small chance of promotion for each of Rychel, Sedlak, Zaar, and Hannikainen. And are Kolesar and Bittner even old enough to play in the AHL yet, given that they were drafted out of the CHL? Kolesar just turned 19. Sifers isn't a F. Craig and the RFA F's (Broadhurst, Chaput, Tynan) are very likely to be back.

Defense: Werenski promoted, maybe Kukan too.

G: Dansk isn't coming back to NA soon, if ever.

Just noticing that 3 of the top 4 goal scorers are picks from the last Howson drafts (Sedlak, Anderson, Zaar).

Gotta give Howson a little bit of credit. Just a little bit.
