Sadly the 'Stein is out tonight and Mowers is in. Apparently he got a bit banged up when Brewer rocked him in the third yesterday, though he didn't miss a shift the rest of the way.
Good game so far. Both teams are working hard. If this is any indication of what to expect the rest of the year, these Nashville/Detroit games should be gut wrenching all the way.
And on the 2nd of back to backs to boot. Hank had a great game and was robbed by the post on the empty net.
Great game top to bottom, though our PP was a bit weak early on. Can't complain tho...
It seems like Lidstrom gets better the more minutes he's played. Since his icetime has been jacked up since Fischer went down, his effectiveness has escalated. Watching ice time can be like watching pitch counts -- sometimes it just shouldn't matter how long the guy's out there.
Good game tonight, Stevie has played well since returning and while Lang is still a little rough around the edges, it looks like he's starting to come around... the effort is their now.
I can't believe Steve 'the stunt diver' Sullivan actually had the nerve to whine and moan about not getting that call.

That's an excellent point. Nick's resurgence does coincide with Jiri's unfortunate situation. And in the other direction, the extra IT seems to be wearing on Schneider who has cooled off considerably.

Simple solution when Nik and hopefully Jiri come back: reduce Schneider's ice time a bit so he's not getting overworked, and staple whoever is sucking (*cough*Lilja*cough*) to the bench so Nick can log his big minutes.

I agree with that statement wholeheartedly. Good game tonight by the Preds, great game tonight by the Wings. Legace made some key saves and the Wings PP showed why they are #1 in the league.
You may have won this fight, but the battle is far from over!
They announced tonight that there were very few tickets remaining for the next time Detroit visits the GEC so it should be another electric atmosphere in February. If the remaining seven games are anything like tonight, it should make for some great hockey to watch.

Great to see the Preds fans really into it. Legace was interviewed after the game and he said the atmosphere reminded him of the games against the Aves. From a Red Wing, that is a pretty high compliment.

Yeah, I'll definitely take that as a compliment to the crowd tonight. Unfortunately I wasn't living in Nashville during the '04 playoffs, but I felt the energy in the building through the television screen 1000+ miles away. For my first experience in the growing Detroit-Nashville rivalry, I came away very pleased at the intensity of the teams and the fans. Although it's controversal...I like the increased games within the division and conference. Not that Detroit has any problem selling tickets, but I think it'll help every market with a rivalry as good as this one.
Is there was any question of who should be our number #1 goaltender for the season....I think that Manny showed to Babcock that it is a clear choice!
Legace
Great win for Detroit. Another terrific game from Nicklas "Norris" Lidstrom
Glad to see that we won this game, should be a interesting series between us and Nashville!
Congratz to Steve Yzerman with that he ties Gordie in all time assists
