defense is being overused/misused and growing tired

example one of my favorites BOUILLON in 2004 was 6th in minutes out of the top 7 guys on our defense in 2003/2004 in 73 games he played a total 1,434:50

this year BOUILLON is 3 rd on the team thru 39 games playing 813:05 to date .

this year 2005 /06 the number 6 guy in minutes is
KOMISAREK-31 games he has played a total
335:54 mins so far this year .if he remains 6 th in minutes he wont come close to logging 1,434:50 as boullion did as our number 6 guy in minutes in 2003/2004 .

many of our guys are being OVERPLAYED and now breaking down halfway thru thru the season due to the fact of having to eat minutes that our number 6 and 7 guy cant play and it doesnt help
having souray and dandy struggle niether . that is putting the load on markov , boullion , rivet.

rivet played 80 games in 2003/04 logged 1,557:20
rivet this year is on pace to play 1814.00 mins in - 80 games

now to all the people complaining about DANDENAULT.
stop disrespecting this guy . the truth is he is being over used !! he isnt used to playing these many minutes so he is getting exposed in his weaknesses . so lay off the guy. when the habs decide to actually bolster there DEFENSE!! and add guys who are used to logging big minutes then DANDENAULT will fit much better in our line up as a number 5 or 6 defensemen .he has played almost as many minutes in his first 39 games in montreal as he did in 65 games in detroit in 2003/2004 .

Good job Doug.

We definitively need a top 4 dman. I hope we get one.

I love Bouillon as well but I'd like him more with less ice time. You make good points with Dandynuts. Dandy should be our 6th or 7th dressed Dman.

Any ideas? Who can we get?

there was a report yesterday , in the Journal LaPresse about that ;

The journalist reported that Rivet said to him that because of all the injuries to key players , a lot of players had to play not only role that they are not suited for , but also for more time that they have ever did .

He was given a lot of names of players that have played 10-12 minutes per games for all their carreer but because all the injuries + the rookies , suddenly got 20-25 minutes per games.

He said that a lot of them are really tired - mentaly an physically , and also said that a lot of them were playing with injuries . He gave the exemple of Begin , few days ago , that said after a shift ,that he wasn't even able to raise his arm , but that he that he played all the game...

The fact that Julien is just given 4-5 minutes of ice to 2-3 players each games doesn't help the other players ...

Julien really hasnt been doing a good job since the losing streak. I mean yes the new kids shouldnt have to play the same mins as the vets, but when you bench them for the third, you not only hurt them, but you tire out the team. I have no idea what julien is thinking. I dont know much about coaching, so anyone with some insight tell me why the way he is coaching is helpful and ill gladly shut up

ya i kinda said the same thing in my post. Players that aren't used to big mins (begin) and some games not only does he get those mins, but he does it against some of the best players in the league, that will tire you out. I sure hope the olympic break help us, because if julien doesnt trust the young kids more(not saying if we play them we will win) atleast our veterans can rest more and have more energy later on in games

edit: maybe someone should pick up nhl 06 for julien and show him what happens when players are on the ice so damn long

Just like I thought, Julien has done a terrible job of managing the bench the last seven weeks. There is no reason not to play the full roster when we are not even half way through the year, especially with a condensed schedule. It's no wonder we were having one key injury per game for a few weeks.

Good Job Doug.

It's not just the dmen. Obviously he barely ever played Perezhogin. When Kosts first came up he had 2 short shifts in 2 games, Murray didn't play much when he first came up...

Sundstrom played 32:26 against NJ yesterday!

It is fair, but it has nothing to do with his effort, it's his talent level. Bouillon would be much more appreciated if he was played in a role suited for him. I've often said Bouillon's the perfect #6/7 dman. Very intense (as long as he isn't overplayed), team player and a 2-way dman. But in a top-4 role, it's painful to watch.

Just like Begin looks amazing when playing 12 minutes a game or less on a 4th line and pathetic on a scoring line. It's all about use, or misuse. But I guess in Julien's mind, nobody is good enough to eat Bouillon's minutes, so I guess that would be Gainey's responsability to find someone that can.

It is most definitely a mistake. NHL.com has him playing the whole first period. That would make for a lot of too many men penalties. I should have looked into it before posting it, that's ridiculous.
Now I feel better about the forwards icetime. Nobody too low, nobody too high.

In my defence I didn't watch the game.
