Looking back: Kovalchuk to Montreal

Before Kovalchuk was drafted, Savard was trying hard to get him and Trasher's GM rejected AS's offer of Markov, Garon, Zednik, 1st but he said he would do Theodore, Zednik, Markov, 1st....

Looking back now.. would you do this trade?

I think I would..

actualy it was two 1st rounders .. Theodore, Zed, Markov, Komisarek, Perezhogin.

And just for your information, I still wouldn't do it because it would completely destroy the team's depth in prospects and NHLers.

For the Kovalchuk of today, yeah. But i bet if we had drafted him, he would be in minors due to his "lack of defense".

Call me crazy but I'd still do it... especially now that Theodore has been exposed.

Well, you'd rather have the most explosive player in the league or Markov and Komisarek?

We would have kept Kovalchuk in AHL until he is 20-21 and then teach him to play defense to be another great 3rd-4th line player. I am glad we have not wasted another talent in our organization.

I never said I wouldn't do it. I said our defense would be worse. Mind you, I'm sure we would have made some moves for some... anyways. didn't happen. Whatever.
