You mean the one Avery had no idea was coming because it was from behind?

With all of the blind Avery hate - has anyone taken the time to notice that he's actually having a great year so far? I'm not a fan of what comes out of his mouth, but he's playing awesome hockey. If he would just learn to shut up... and let his game speak for him....

It is even funnier when you look at Avery's numbers this season and realize he can be a 2nd line player on the Penguins or Flames, and he's put up those numbers playing on a checking line.

dont attempt to justify avery's softness by saying he got dropped by Kirk Maltby

thats like *****ing at Wayne Gretzkey because he didnt outscore Howe 1 year earlier than he did.

I didn't attempt to justify anything. As a Red Wing fan I thought it was funny cause he was running his mouth as usual and Maltby popped him for it.

I miss Aves. I still wish he was a Wing. And I always knew that someday he'd become a very good hockey player if he just toned it down a bit, and so far so good. Props to him. Atta boy, puppy!

Im gonna add my little bit to this. Funny how Avery gets ripped by most for every little thing but yet when he tones it down puts the pedal to the floor and play the game and is playing at a good clip all of a sudden its quiet and noone has anything to say. Hes got 8 pts in the last 10 games . Has already eclipsed his career high in goals will soon pass career high in assists. The guy is having a career year but all you every hear about is something stupid he said or did a long time ago.

gets a double minor
actually he only got 2 for roughing along with Avery.

Detroit roughing - 2 min 19:12, K. Maltby
Los Angeles roughing - 2 min 19:12, S. Avery

actually he got into it with Cheli after Zetterberg scored the EN goal and he gave Maltby the first shot so Malts gave it back just like I said.

What are you trying to imply? That Avery's soft because he got cheap shotted by Maltby? When was the last time Maltby fought Jovanovski? Iginla? McCabe?

Didn't think so.

Don't get your boxers in a bunch. I wasn't trying to imply anything, just something I find funny because he got some of his own medicine on that night and didn't like it.

So what's your point then? That Avery fights and Malts doesn't? Big deal.

He fought Iginla in 02/03, McCabe in 03/04 and Jovanovski a month or so ago.

Since you brought it up,when did Avery fight any of those three?
Lets see Avery fought Jovo a few weeks ago, fought iginla his 2nd yr in the league and fought mccabe last season. Avery had more fights in 03-04 than maltby has in his career.

Spitfire beat me to it

You make it seem as if Kirk Maltby were this almighty enforcer that Bob Probert could not be able to thwart with a left hook and that Joey Kocur could not immobilize with an uppercut.

You would think Sean Avery was posting around here at HF with as much Avery bashing that goes on.

He's the best agitator in the league, hands down. He throws off teams by just stepping on the ice, especially canadian teams. Everybody seems to have a off-based opinion of Avery.

Canadians are just mad because he plays in LA, disses French Canadians and get's the hottest peice of *** in town. Get over it.

I'll say it again.

I like him, and I miss him being a Red Wing.

I make one post and all of a sudden I'm trying to make Malts out to be an enforcer. Just show me where I was attempting to do so...otherwise don't get so pissy about one post that I make.

Sean Avery Stats

44GP- 10G- 15A- 25 Pts +5 - 144 PIM

Projects to a full season...

19G, 28A, 47 Pts +7 268 PIM

Those are some pretty damn good numbers for a 3rd line checker/agitator. Avery is easily one of the Kings 5 best players this season, easily.
