Kloucek

How was Kloucek performing before the knee injury? When should he return to action? And where does he fit into Nashville's blueline when everyone is healthy?

On the Rangers board, there is an ongoing debate about the merits of the Dunham trade. It's hard to get a proper gauge on Kloucek since he's been injured for most of his time in the Preds organization. Thanks for any info.

He's looked great when he isn't injured. He absolutely punished people against the boards. His injury was akward as he and an opposing player wene into the board in an odd fashion.

I think Kloucek will be a rock for us for years to come.

There shouldn't be.

If ANYONE in NY stiill thinks they got the better end of that deal, we'll HAPPILY trade them Chris Mason for Poti, Lindros, and oh...I dunno...Pick a quality PK forward.

I mean, I figure that'd be our backup goalie for a responsible offensive d-man, a quality 3rd line center, and a guy who's injured a lot.

There is debate because Dunham has been playing absolutely lights out ever since he came to NY, and the only player in the deal that held any kind of value to most Ranger fans was Kloucek, who had been injured and wasn't the same after returning.

The real steal...so far in the deal was Zidlicky... 5gp 2g 4a. If this kid keeps this up, he alone would be worth it.

I believe we both got what we needed out of the deal. True, I think NY gave up more, but like Kodiak said, Dunham has been getting it done for them. I don't know if they could have ever got what we have out of Rem and Zidlicky, and most likely Kloucek. So, on paper, we won that deal no question, but in reality, we both came out about even. That being said, you must also consider the money side. We dumped a lot of salary, which we will end up giving back to the guys we traded for. Also, Koun has made it easy for us to say that getting rid of Dunham was alone the better deal. So yea, as of right now, we might have a slight edge over NY in that deal, 55% to 45% Nashville on top...

I may be in the minority around here, but I actually liked Dunham. He was very cordial the couple of times I spoke with him and I thought he kept the Preds respectable in the first few years. I think the move back close to home was a good situation for him and his wife... best to him. And yet maybe I am tainted, after all he is on my fantasy team.

That said this was a great trade from a Pred fan perspective. We go what we lacked...... and gave something that we had a better one of in Tomas Vokoun. Rem has been a steady performer with a good locker room personality, Kloucek looked great in camp and was probably a top 4 guy but with his injury it has given Hamhuis an opportunity to shine. Zids has just been awesome, I think he is our best Dman right now, perhaps our best player....minus Vokoun. If we don't make that trade, and we have the D corp from last year.....I would say this team is at best 1-4 ....instead of 3-2. When Kloucek gets back ...they will be even stronger.

Vokoun's outplayed Dunham

This year:
Dunham's GAA 1.92
Dunham's SV% .93

Vokoun GAA 1.76
Vokoun SV% .941

Agreed, Dunham may have been lights out but Vokoun has been his better statistically since the start of last season.

Kloucek is still up in the air.

He was looking decent in preseason, but preseason is child's play. The real test will come when he comes back from his injury. It will be the first real chance he's had at the NHL in about 2 years.
