Betts Injury

Brooks is reporting it is a MCL tear. He left the game on crutches. That is not good. MRI today.

Quote:
Blair Betts sustained an apparent MCL tear 2:50 into the game and will be sidelined for an undetermined period of time. The checking center, who will undergo an MRI today, left the building on crutches.

Terrible news, MCL tear will probably mean season is over for him.

An ACL tear would but not an MCL. However there is no way Brooks can know this before the MRI was taken. Pure speculation.

yeah, kind of hard to diagnose something like that before the MRI...

the way i see it, if betts is down for awhile, it just means a chance for a guy from hartford to step in

Big E plays like a big retarded, though. Always playing with his head down.

Betts just has bad shoulders and bad knees now and whatever else will go wrong with him.

Brooks jumping the gun again ......what, no report on the Rangers getting Sykora today from Brooks? He must have lost his connections.

Maybe Immonen can come in. Is he a good penalty killer? We need to fill the penalty killing void left by Betts. Our PK has looked worse as of late and we can't afford to lose PKers. Damn. On the bright side, teams have more injuries and there could be worse injuries than this.

I guess thats as good as we could expect. He should be back after the Olympic break. This coupled with the Sykora trade today pretty much means that Rucchin will center the 4th line with Ward and Niemo. Lineup should look something like this:

Jagr-Straka-Rucinsky
Prucha-Nylander-Sykora
Hollweg-Moore-Orts
Ward-Rucchin-Niemo

with Orr and Hossa as the subs. I'm actually liking the look of that lineup. Can't wait to see how this team looks on Tuesday nite.

I remember when we first acquired Jagr...first game as a New York Ranger against the Senators we got absolutely owned! I believe it was 8 or 9 to 1!

Let's hope we give Sykora a better welcome!

It was 9-1. So I guess our 6-2 beating this season wasn't too bad by comparison.
