I wonder what Nolan Patrick can do to improve his stock. I could potentially see him as Chychrun, everyone nitpicking his game and him falling a bit. Statistically he can't get much better. I hope he rounds out his game.

I think there's a difference between forwards and dmen. It's much easier to get a good read on a forward than it is on a dman. As far as Patrick goes, he needs to have another solid season, make his place on the U20 team for Canada and be a factor on that team. Other than that, keep on improving his game. There's only so much he can do as he's playing in the WHL and not a pro league. If Liljegren can have an outstanding season, he could take over based on the fact that he'll be proven against pro players. A bit like Matthews and Laine did.

He's gotten fairly limited international exposure so landing a spot on the U20 team could be a pretty big motivation factor. There's definitely a risk that he gets a bit complacent since he's already been on a championship team, memorial cup run,etc. Production wise too there's not much room for improvement after a 102 points season as a young 17 year old. Scouts will be looking to see if he can stay focused through all those factors. He already has a pro physique but he could always get better in that department too I guess.

It makes sense then, I understand if Team Canada wants to ice the best team now. Haven't seen Welsh play, I'll keep an eye out for him. I for one don't mind smaller goalies, but they indeed get overlooked nowadays by NHL teams.

6'0 = Too small

6'1 = Future #1

Nice input, merci mec.

As most of you guys, Yamamoto is my early favourite, not just because of his name, but since he's so entertaining to watch. Kid barely missed being draft eligible in 2016, by 14 days to be exact. He probably would have been a 2nd rounder.

If you were referring to Milot or Tkachuk then you're right.

There's a few articles here and there like those ones too

http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/2016...tadt-hirschier

https://toomanymenonthesite.com/2016...verall-talent/

It allows you to get familiar early with some of the names, especially if you suck at remembering them like I do .

Vilardi looked like a top 5 pick at the end of last season.

You're right, he may be too low on my list. I put the list together fairly quickly and I took the whole season into account. However, I would have liked to see more from him throughout the season.

Although I like the kid, I think you have to be very careful with dmen. How many of the dmen drafted in the 1st round in 2016 were actually rated in the 1st round before the season? Juolevi, Chychrun and Fabbro I think would have been on all lists. I really liked Bean but I'm not sure everybody would have had him there. Same for McAvoy. Not to mention Chychrun fell quite a bit. The rest, not so much. So, no certainty on D unless you have prime time talent like Ekblad or Liljegren this year.

Those are pretty much the main guys for now. You could add Jonas Røndbjerg for Denmark.

Nick Suzuki impressed me a lot while watching McNiven.

I mainly just see the guys that are teammates of Hab prospects so I'll be keeping an eye on Patrick Bajkov and Dylan Malmquist since they didn't get drafted.

I know he had 6-7 NCAA offers on the table before the QMJHL draft, even Maine was ready to take him in 2016-2017 if he accelerate his schooling but that didn't happen.
