^ nice nice, it'll be fun to follow Liljegren next year, hopefully he won't pull a Kylington.

US roster for the Hlinka tournament.

Been reading that the 2 US goalies are absolute must watch for the draft.

What's Liljegren like? I assume with that stature he must have phenomenal skating ability.

I'd understand if they had him at 5'7" but 5'2" is a weird typo

A small look into the backstage dealings in the CHL . Of course ,anybody with any clue about the league knows about those type of deals already, it's really nothing new.

Hoping we can draft a PMD with top 4 upside in the 2nd round next year, we need someone to compete with Beaulieu asap because he's developing slowly.

Sergachev - Weber
XXX - Petry
Beaulieu - Pateryn

Is what I'm hoping for in 3-5 years

Have you ever heard about Mete?
But seriously I would heavily target one of the left handed defenseman of the flyers.
Mainly Sanheim would is down their Ghost and Provorov on their depth chart.

i dunno tbh ive only seen him play twice (U18s this year), good puck mover as advertised. gonna have to pay more attention to him this year to see where hes at defensively and how good his hockey IQ is.

i hope he makes the u20 team.

Grant what are your thoughts on Meireles, McHugh and Castleman (knowing that you're from the Ottawa region)? I know that Meireles is likely to be a high 1st round pick due to his skillset and 2 way game but i've heard that he's a perimeter player which is a bit worrisome.

On the other hand i've seen a few games of McHugh and i loved him, he was a puck hound. Looking at his midget numbers it looks like he has some offensive upside aswell, thoughts on where you think he'll end up getting picked?

Don't know much about Castleman but i've been told good things about him.

4 WHL dmen to keep an eye on for next season: Artyom Minulin, Juuso Valimaki, Jonathan Smart and Cal Foote. They're gonna be the 2017 WHL version of Chychrun/Sergachev/Juolevi .

Add Yamamoto, Rasmussen, Mattheos and Patrick to that list (aswell as Cal Fleury most likely), looks like a very strong year for the WHL. I really like Mason Shaw aswell, he was great at the U18's, Parker Kelly is another personal favorite of mine.

Definitely a big year for the dub, arguably it's biggest ever if they all have a good season . Ditto for US hockey who could produce half a dozen first rounders at least.

I don't want to start the debate about the best way of selecting at the draft (BPA, position BPA, etc.). But now that our LD is ok, for you, what position would be the best target on the 2017 draft for the Habs with our first rounf pick?
LW? C? RW? RD? LD? G?
A top 6 forward? A top 6 center?

Center, without question. I'd still list our needs as

Center
LD
RW
LW
RD
Goalie

BPA. The Habs pool is still weak and they could use a bit of everything.

What stands out the most are the Centre and Defence positions. Can't keep trading these 2nd rounders.

yup, no 2nd round picks for us since 2013. We've traded away all 4 we had since then, the 2nd round has made me so sad these past years because you have to watch all your favorite prospects get drafted

My gut reaction would be center, although with Shark, Big Mac and potentially Hudon all being converted to that position it might not be such a need. A RW with some offensive upside would be nice too.

Even if i would like us to get a good center prospect, I agree with your vision.

Right now we have in our prospects pool:

Right wing Top3: Scherbak (others are centers/LW main) Number or prospects: 1 Needs depth, mid-level and top-end prospects
Left defenceman Top3: Sergachev, Mete, Bourque (even if 2016 helped a lot) Number or prospects:5 Needs mid-level prospects
Right defenceman Top3: Juulsen Lernout Henriksson (weakened a lot by Ellis/Dietz departure) Number or prospects: 8 Needs mid-level prospects
Centers Top3: McCarron, Bitten, Vejdemo Number or prospects:10 Needs top end talent
Left wing Lehkonen, Hudon, Reway/JDLR Number of prospects: 6
Goalies Top3: Lindgren, Fucale, McNiven Number or prospects: 4

We should try to avoid goalie unless clear BPA (had more success recently with NCAA FA anyway). Left wing is also in pretty good shape. Right wing is very shallow even if you put guys like Grégoire in there. Same thing with LD that has very few legit prospects.

Guys like Valimaki, Blacker, Vaakanainen, Kostin and Popugaev could be interesting where we should pick. Of course, I'm just paper scouting so who knows

[QUOTE=Mathletic;119910561]About time we get this thing going already. Should be another strong year for Finland. Few kids have stood out already: Patrick, Liljegren, Tolvanen, Morand, Comtois, Foote, Tippett, Strome, Yamamoto, Vilardi, Reedy, Vaakanainen, Välimäki, Farrance, Bowers and Skinner in net.

1 | Nolan Patrick | C/RW | Brandon Wheat Kings | WHL
2 | Maxime Comtois | C/LW | Victoriaville Tigres | LHJMQ
3 | Timothy Liljegren | RHD | Rögle BK |

I'm thinking the Habs will need to use their two 2nd's in 2017 to move up into the 20 - 25 grouping. That might allow them to choose one of Callan Foote(RHD), Owen Tippett(RW/C), Alex Chemelevski(RHC), Stelio Mattheos(RHC), possibly Jordy Bellerive(LHC) Habs already have many LHC's in their system though. Callan Foote(RHD) could be a more offensive Adam Foote, wouldn't that be a treat alongside Sergachev, Juulsen, & Beaulieu as our young Dmen prospects, another Big Three in the making, idealistic thinking of course.

If your big three includes Beaulieu and Juulsen you are heading to Edmonton level type of defense.

Sergachev is a nice start but I would not be surprised to see Beaulieu shipped out and Juulsen developing as a #5/#6 defenseman.
