Hudler Help Please

What position does he play?

The Forecaster has him "RW/LW"
The AHL site has him as "LW"
When he was drafted, THN had him as "C"
ESPN has him as "C"

What position has he played this year mostly? Who are his linemates in Grand Rapids? What position will he play if/when he makes the NHL?

Thanks

His "natural" position was supposed to be center, but everything I've heard says he's horrible on faceoffs and he's been playing LW for Grand Rapids. He's listed as a LW on the Griffs' site, and he's been playing with Eric Manlow, who's listed as a C.

I would say he's a LW. Or, since it's Hudler, maybe I'd say he's a lw.

Hudler is definitely a LW, at least that's where he's been playing all year. If he makes it into the NHL (wouldn't hold my breath on that one) he'll probably be at LW still.

How much of a chance for him to make it?
What's missing? He seems to dominate in the AHL.

Size, speed, and defensive responsibility.

He can work some on #2 and quite a bit on #3. I'm almost positive he'll make the NHL. There is too much talent there. Some team (hoping it'll be us) will find a way to stick him on a roster.

I think what is missing is that he isn't what we really need right now. We've got plenty of centers, even having to put Zetterberg on wing sometimes to keep the top guys in the top lines.

We might need a grittier, bigger wing...so Huds can't really do that for us either. So he is in a tough spot in that he is a smallish, natural center who has to play on the wing in the AHL- and we've got a really tough roster to crack for those spots.

I think he can make it in the NHL, but the more I think about it, the less I think it will be on the Wings roster. The more pressing needs we have do increase the likelihood that he gets dealt if/when the time comes for Kenny to pull the trigger.
