How come Juulsen can't join the AHL squad?

Too young.

Quote:
Players drafted and playing for CHL teams are ineligible to play in the professional minor leagues (AHL, ECHL) until they are 20 years old (by December 31st of that year) or have completed four years in major juniors.

I doubt they count 1 game as a year.

He was born 1997-04-02 so he won't be 20 until next year. He only played 1 game for Everett Silvertips in the WHL in 2012-2013 which doesn't count as a completed season. His real rookie season was 2013-2014.
You need to play 25 in the CHL to count as 1 season so Juulson has only played 3 season to date.

That's too bad. Oh well I guess he bad a bad year last year so he can improve on that. Is his this year team better than the last years silvertips?

I meant offensively more so than all around.

Didn't his posts half of something?

His whole team had an abysmal year offensively for sure.

Last PO team in GF by 40 goals (182 and next was 222) and 21/22 in the league (only worst was the last place team). Best scorer had 58 points in 69 games (vs 82 pts in 65 games by Scherbak last year).

Their defensive game was excellent though as they were 2/22 for GA.

Their coach plays the most defensive system ever and they didn't have an offensive star like Scherbak this time around to score.

Biggest reason I think was the powerplay. Everett went from 3'rd best to 2'nd last in PP% in WHL. Juulsen went from 26 PPP to 13 PPP. Pretty big considering that Juulsen had about 50% of his points on the powerplay last season and this season.

Edit: This article explains why Juulsen had a big drop in production http://www.habseyesontheprize.com/20...port-canadiens

Juulsen plays a solid all around game and his 1st pass is elite. Obviously there are questions about whether he will produce at the pro level, but if he can learn to play the pro game and make the transition to the speed of the NHL, his breakout pass makes him a good bet to play regular minutes once he gets there. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does this year especially if he gets to play against high end talent if he makes team Canada.

Not sure I would call his 1st pass elite. He does play a solid all round game though.

I like him even more now that he's not our top D prospect.

I have to say I love the Sergachev pick but I'm not sold that he'll fulfill his potential. I'm not saying he'll bust but I don't think he's a lock to be a #1. He absolutely has all the tools though. I just don't know if he has that 'it-factor'. Really hope I'm wrong. On paper though I like Sergachev and Juulsen as our top D prospects. I don't know if Juulsen can be a #2 but I doubt he's any worse than a 2nd pairing guy. He just seems so solid.

If they both fit into our top 4 at some point....that would be a HUGE win for the habs.

What you call the "it-factor" looks like not being a russian. He would be a good white Canadian and we would talk about the next Ekblad and no way he would have been there at #9.

I think you're jumping to conclusion.

Blum, Brennan, Godfrey, Erixon didn't have it.

Ellis kinda had it.

Markov, Karlsson had it.

Offensive talent they can or cannot figure out at the next level.

Sergachev is a good bet to be an NHL D, even a top-2D, but saying people would consider him a lock #1 if he were canadian is far from reality.

Let's wait until he plays against adults to proclaim the next Bobby Orr, shall we?
(I know this is an exaggeration, but even 1OA picks aren't surefire #1)
