that sucks, I went to Pittsburgh for my first time this summer (June 12-15) and saw a concert there (if we are talking about the same one). It was in a dome/tent type of thing. I was at an AIST Symposium there and stayed at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel. Pittsburgh is a beautiful place, hopefully it isn't because of lack of interest.
This is all speculation...don't read too much into it. The draw in recent years hasn't been that great to the concerts there, and the way our city taxes entertainment coming in this may have been done because financially it just isnt working for them.
Sorry, there is no link. It was talked about on Mark Madden's show today. If your not from Pittsburgh, Station Square is an area in Pittsburgh that is also pursuing the slots license. However, word on the street is that Rendell owes the owners of station square a "political favor".
Since i started this thread, I've still been listening to the show and people have been calling and saying that other groups going after slots license have been cancelling plans for this summer too, so maybe its not that big a deal. However, Station Square would take the biggest hit by cancelling concerts....millions actually.
