Stewart and Abid recalled from Chicago (AHL)

01/10/2006 Karl Stewart (LW) Chicago DEL Recalled from loan by Atlanta/NHL
01/10/2006 Ramzi Abid (LW) Chicago DEL Recalled from loan by Atlanta/NHL

Evidently trying to save every penny under the salary cap, and sent these two down while the team was off for a couple days to save a couple days paychecks?

they were both skating at practice today!

wait a minute...

are you saying they had gone back to chicago between last Friday and today and then came back??? Didn't Abid get an assist on Friday vs. Crosby et al?

Yes, he had 3 assists for Chicago Sunday.

Yeah I'm sure they're penny-pinching.

There was also a game in Chicago in the meantime, so Abid and Stewart were able to help out the team in a big way, and now they're good to go in Atlanta. How about that for being efficient?

Actually I'm glad to see Abid back up here.

It would seem more to me like the team being cheap. If I was the player, I would be very unhappy with the moves.

It's not like Stewart and Abid have any leverage, though. They either do what the team says or they get paid nothing. And I doubt anybody is beating down their doors with a big money contract anytime soon.

Both Stewy and Abid played with alot of heart and acted like they were pleased to be back with the team. They certainly helped us win that game. I really respect the fact that they played the way they did after being "sent down". Perhaps they knew it was only for one game to help the Wolves. At any rate, they showed a lot of class.

Wow! Well, it's nice they were able to help out the Wolves. Guess they didn't have 4 days off, like everyone else! (not counting practice days)

Thanks for the info!

BTW, Stewart is little! (oh no...)

Remember Stewart's fight with Chad Larose the other night? I just realized he played with him for three years in Plymouth. Prearranged perhaps?

Or the young guys were able to get another game under their belts.
Also saved the team a bit of salary (but increased flying and living expenses) so I bet little financial incentive for the team.

Probably physically tough on the guys but I'll wager that neither are complaining about the (re)call up.
