Sykora is back!

In his first game as a Ranger, Sykora proved to be worth Maxim Kondratiev. Sykora put up an assist and a goal in a 3 - 2 win over the Calgary Flames.

Edit: 4-2 win as NY scores on an empty-net.

While it is definitely a little early to claim a player is suddenly worlds better after one game, a player who was struggling severely to score (was it seven or nine goals?), scoring 2 points in his first game with the team is a good sign.

one game is too early to say if Sykora worth Maxim Kondratiev !

anyway I'm happy for him for his first game !!! Usually players always play well in their first games with their new teams !

Are you finally going to admit you're a crosby hater with that avatar??

As for the subject in hand, Sykora will thrive with his new czech teamates. I'm actually starting to like the rangers as oppose to the past when the team consisted of a bunch of mercenaries.

To be fair it was a fluky goal but I'll take it. A goal is a goal. His fluky goal that went off a player counts as much as Phaneuf's fluky goal that went off a player, so um for this game he's back.

Hey, if the Rangers hit the net a little more we might see a few more 'fluky' goals...it all counts the same on the boxsheet.

Not to be a downer or anything, but his assist was of the "flukey" variety as well. That being said, I am looking forward to seeing how teams approach the Rangers now that they seem to have two legit scoring lines.

a little early to make a thread like this. fluke goal off a d-mans leg, and throwing the puck in front for an assist...and he is back? back to what?

I do wish him the best of luck in New York though. I think he will be a good fit there with team Czech.

Whatever man flukes happen it's a part of the game. (see the stanley cup finals for 1995, 2000, 2003 )

It's really interesting how the Rangers have some many Czech players. Infact they have alot of europeans, just like most teams.

However it got me thinking, when you look back at the Russian 5 on Detroit why don't more teams try this. I am not sure if the Rangers actually planned on having 'The Czech national team' wearing Ny Rangers jersey's or what.

Will they grab more Czech players? Who knows.

It certainly is great for Jagr and it shows. But alot of them seem happy.

I remember years ago Russia (not sure if it was a business man or Russia Hockey League in general) wanted to buy out an NHL team and make it a Russian only or Russian heavy team (might of been the Vancouver Canucks).

Would be real interesting to see how that would all work.

BTW Where is Robert Reichel these days?.

Sykora should thrive now that he's out of Anaheim. He didn't seem to fit under Carlyle's system. Kudos to Sykie.

stop it eck, really, you make yourself look really dumb.

with that being said, please contribute something to the topic or stay out.

as for sykora, very impressive tonight, even though his goal was a fluke, 1 game is definitly too early to say but he seems very confident being in this area, you can feel that he really wants to be in new york, so who knows, maybe hell pick up his play and not only help us advance to the playoffs also over round 1.

The Rangers coaching staff and scouts felt that Czech players are well-suited to the "new" NHL and decided to add a few Czech veterans, plus it'd make Jaromir happy to have some buddies on the team.

The Rangers always have had a wealth of Czechs it seems over the last few years. They had the Czech line of Hlavac-Nedved-Dvorak for some time.

Surround Jagr with a host of Czechs = success.... Straka, Beranek, Lang, Slegr, Hrdina, Kraft, Rozsival in 99-2000 and 00-01 were all on the Pens team.

Now he has even better guys in Straka, Sykora, Rucinsky, Malik, Prucha... And Rozsival's also there.

Anyway, good for the Rangers... Used to hate them, but I like this team.. They won me over early on with their effort.

Another 1 goal and 1 assist and being instrumental in leading the NYR to victory over those dirty Oilers.

When Sykora flourishes after some New York media shellackings, I'll be impressed.

Until then, I think he's riding on the "everyone loves me" wagon.

There aren't many players who take everything to heart as much as he does (although I'll certainly say the guy he dealt for, Friesen, does as well.)

I think NY could be a pretty rough place for him. And I hope it's soon too.

My lord, Devil fans bashing Sykora. Can we say.. bitter?

Alex Moginly maybe? take Syorka over him? thought so...

Anywho, Sykora looks great out there, creating chances and making chances. Huge goal late in the 2nd to tie it at 3 after we played like crap.

Czech Mates and I'm loving it.

Sykora didn't exactly leave the Devils on good terms

Still, I hope him the best. Course, I hope the Rangers lose while he plays well
