I didn't think Cannata looked too bad on Saturday. He made 24 saves on 26 shots and Bridgeport did have 8 PP opportunities. He does look awkward in the net though, but I'm assuming that's just his style? I have to say that he was a very interesting choice to become the #3 guy in the organization.

Also want to point out that Hershey seemed to have no say on that signing. Mann did an interview during one of the intermissions last weekend and he talked about how he really didn't know much about Cannata, but Mitch Korn and Scott Murray were high on him. There were a lot of better options out there that could have been a mentor to Vanecek and provided a decent recall option.

Agree with LetsGoBears about Vanecek. Had a solid game on Sunday against WBS and deserved a shutout. The only goal to beat him was a deflected point shot that went through a lot of traffic. The only knock I had was rebound control. I thought a lot of pucks were bouncing off of him.

It looked like Cannata was swimming in the crease when he was down by us in 1st and 3rd. Got the job done but looked pretty ugly doing it.

IIRC, Vanecek did clean up the rebound further into the game.

As long as it works and he keeps the puck out of the net, I don't care how he does it

I left a bit early so didn't catch like half the third period (had to get home to watch The Walking Dead) but you're right, Vanecek did seem to get better as the game went on.

Add Liam O'Brien to the list of injured Bears. The list now has Gazely (fractured his foot saturday and needed surgery), Djoos, Galiev, McGauley (assumption), and O'Brien.

Joey Leach is currently the only healthy scratch. Would have to assume that someone gets recalled if any of those injuries carry over into the weekend.

Hershey takes 2 of 2 this weekend and 5 out of 6 points during the week stretch. They look like a team that is starting to gel with the new guys developing some chemistry.

Hershey beat Binghamton 7-2 on Saturday and Lehigh Valley 3-2 tonight. Vanecek had his first win of the season tonight.

Weekend stats for the prospects:

Vrana 3 goals, 2 assists
Barber 1 goal, 1 assist
Boyd 4 assists
Stephenson 2 assists
Bowey 1 goal, 1 assist
Walker 2 assists
Colby Williams +2 on Saturday

Liam O'Brien was out for Wednesday and Saturday's game with a hamstring injury and the flu but played tonight. Stan Galiev is added back to the list of injuries. He was absolutely destroyed with a legal check that threw him into the boards back/neck first. He briefly returned to the game and then wasn't seen again. He did not play tonight and has a "upper body injury." Djoos is classified as day to day according to Troy Mann and Ryan Bourque is week to week.

Is Vrana looking as good as his stat line would indicate?

Last weekend he was awful. So bad, that Mann thought he deserved to be a healthy scratch against Wilkesbarre who are off to a very hot start.

This weekend it was a completely different story. He obviously is a threat offensively, but this weekend he was back checking very well and stopped a potential 2 on 1 with a solid stick lift from behind. If he continues to play at the level he did this weekend, he will be in the NHL very soon.

Exactly this. Last weekend Varana was butter soft and floating around. Boyd wasn't that bad but he wasn't doing much of anything either. This past weekend was a complete 180 for both.

I've liked Vanecek so far. You want him to make one or both saves against LHV, but you can't blame him for either.

Two Binghamtom players suspended for their actions against Hershey Saturday night. The Lepine guy got a 3 gamer for an abuse of officials penalty.

What did Dunn do? Bunch of non-sense from the Sens that game.

Wonder what the punishment will be. If I'm correct cannabis isn't on the banned substances list but it is still illegal. Could they make him take a drug test, then send him to some drug education program while suspending him?

You're thinking of Alex Semin who was caught smoking (a cigarette I believe).

And yes, Barry Trotz ain't gonna like this.

Thanks for this. I don't see Williams or Oshie coming back next year so here's hoping Vrana continues to trend towards the NHL level and not the healthy scratch level.

Thanks, learned a new acronym. Figured that was a "fixed that for you" type of abbreviation, but it was not.

I actually have no idea. It was classified as supplemental discipline. I know he got into that fight with Carey but can't remember why. Maybe it's part of the new fighting rule? Although I doubt he already accumulated that many fighting majors
