Worcester Sharks coming this fall

The American Hockey League Board of Governors on Monday approved the relocation of the San Jose Sharks' AHL franchise from Cleveland to Worcester, Mass., beginning with the 2006-07 season.

Sharks Minor Holdings president Michael Lehr and San Jose Sharks president and CEO Greg Jamison made the announcement that the team has reached an agreement with the DCU Center to bring the Worcester Sharks to town next fall.

This will put them in the same division as the Monarchs and Portland (Ducks). Three Pacific Division team's affiliate's in the same AHL Division...

I guess the good news is that the Monarchs can learn to play against the SJ players they'll be playing against in a few seasons.

Hopefully, we can learn how to finally beat them.

When I mentioned this to Tambellini last week, he smirked... I think the players are going to enjoy the rivalry....

The Coyotes used to be Springfield's affiliate, if I recall..

The Stars' AHL affiliate is in Des Moines, Iowa.

That's cool, because Worcester is the second-closest AHL city to me (about 45 minutes)
