Most of all Kontiola is dominating game every time he steps up to rink when he is on. There is some flaws too, first of all he is a bit incosistent. Secondly he is maybe a bit too good for SM-liiga skillwise and his lineup mates can't match his skills, so he can't play such a game as he could with top notch wingers.

But saying his skill progress, he should be in NHL next year, no doubt about it.

I doubt it, because for his development a year in AHL in a big role rather than a minor role in NHL would be a better option. He is really a skilled youngster and I hope the progress continues. Inconsistency is no surprise, because he has been playing in EHT as well, so the workload has been huge for a guy of his age.

Of course minor role would be bad. But imho Blackhawks don't have too much guys at center, so I wouldn't be surprised if Kontiola would steal like 2nd line role. But AHL would be better than NHL minor since he still needs some muscle and is developing all the time.

He centered a line with Bergenheim and Kallio in Finlands 7-3 test win against Latvia yesterday! He had two assists!

Tallon has said he is one of the Europeans he really wants to bring over next year so as long as Kontiola want to come over and impresses in camp he should get a roster spot.

I'd like to see him play on NA ice against NHL level talent before giving him a roster spot. Remember Last year when everyone was raving about Salmo? He tore up the FEL as well. The NHL, not so much.
