Oo la la revisited...

sorry guys, just had to bring it up one more time before killing it.

I just spent the last 3 hours with the founder of Sassoon jeans (not Maurice). In telling his bio, he mentioned that and mentioned the Rangers, and mentioned Espo, Duguay and two Swedes (who I said were Hedberg and Nilsson). Thought it was kind of funny that it would come up in a meeting.

Hey Fletch, did you ask him if he'd be interested in bringing it all back?

Btw, In the trophy pic, is that Prucha in the background to Sykora's left?

Duguay - "I'm a lover not a fighter"

His rookie year they shaved his head, they did that alot back then, wish they still kind of did that....

He was a pretty good player in the early 80's, then went to play wing with Lemieux and later Gretzky in LA. Not a bad life....

Same here. Only One sister though - and she has a portable shrine that is in good shape to this day. It is a red folder. inside are pictures of her and Dugay at various events (after games, signings, Ranger fashion shows, etc...) also a Dugay hockey card. Pictures from games on the rangers and the wings. My personal favorite: a "I HEART Ron Dugay" Bumper Sticker...and various other things.

I also get a call from her every year on June 14. Care to guess what happened on that day in 1983 ??

You said June 14...

and I immediately think of Flag Day...then the Rangers Cup win, then events that happened around that time - but 1983? Was he traded to the Red Wings that day, upsetting your sister?

Brought to tears this day - the day he was shipped to Detroit.

Anyone remember if this was the deal?

Det-Duguay, Jonhstone, Hanlon
NYR-Osborne, Blaisdell, Mio

HATED that deal at the time, but Duguay was the least of it for me. I really loved Johnstone and Hanlon at the time. Good thing Osborne played well...Blaisdell was a joke and Mio was OK but a lesser beast.

Cool thing about Duguay was on his second Ranger go-round what a great checking player he morphed himself into after he'd l,ost the scoring touch. I really respected the work ethic he'd adopted and enjoyed his play maybe more than I had during the ooh-la-la days. Kind of surprised he didn't opt for a life in hockey media becuase I remember him as intelligent and well-spoken.
