Not that I don't find it funny, but honestly, who's going to seriously discuss Crosby/Ovechkin in this thread when we've already had 2 pages of sarcastic remarks?

If the mods allow multiple threads about the same player in a reasonable fashion, why force everyone to post in a thread that, for all intents and purposes, is a long list of running, inside-jokes?

Does he post lavish praise of Bush on the politics board? Because if not, it isn't Foppa_Rules.

Here's a serious attempt to use this thread:

Can people please agree to drop the hyperbole when comparing their rookie seasons? If you thikn one has been better than the other, don't feel bad saying so, but adjectives like "easily", "clearly", "boviously" and so on are unwarranted and do nothing but annoy others. I don't see how anyone could have wached these two this season and then claim that one is significantly ahead of the other. They alternate on the points lead every now and then, with no one getting more than a 5 point lead or so before the other catches back up. Save the "easily better" stuff until the season ends with one of them 10 or 15 points ahead.

No one there looks Asian, she is wearing her eyeliner in such a way that it makes her eyes look a bit slanted.

I should know, being half Asian and female myself.

My take on both of these guys.

As of "right now", I'd say that Ovechkin is the better player, for a lot of reasons already established elsewhere. The league on one hand is taking a big risk in proclaiming in commercials that Crosby is "the next one", but on the other hand, the league needs young talent that creates any kind of media attention.

Madonna has proven over and over that bad press is still press, in the long run.

So people hate Crosby because he comes across as embodying what many people dislike... a bit of arrogance, a bit of elitism (with enough skills to back it up), almost a rich-kid air. He'll probably out of this phase over time.

As far as his diving... Forsberg brings diving to a new art form, and yet that is overlooked when people get all glazy-eyed, and declare him the best 2-way player on the planet. Go figure.

When a vet does it, its called smart hockey.

Interestingly enough their names are interchangeable. Kovalchuk on the other hand, gets praise heaped upon him...

Hardly. There are droves of people that are more than willing to bring up the diving ad nauseum when Forsberg is the subject.

That said, it's only diving. People make a big deal out of it because Sid and Peter are the real deal and, well... you gotta find SOME way to criticize them to justify irrational hatred.

They're looking at a replay on a TV monitor.

I guess no one caught his highness AO yapping at the ref tonight when Modano hooked him down from behind. Then again, it wasn't crosby, so no one cares.

"Yapping" after a penalty was called (basically asking for a penalty shot as was the entire team) and "yappying" after non-penalty whistles are a little different.
