Detroit is an out of conf game, and in all honesty irrelevent. They are a tired team and it shows, it was bound to happen and it took until the last game of a grueling road trip.

Lets tip our cap to an outstanding road trip that put them into first in the conf and 7 points ahead of the Rangers. No need to bash any players tonight as you couldn't have asked for anything more and very doubtful anyone thought this trip would be as successful as it has been.

Game, set, match. Great trip, still. Now, Colorado and Carolina await at home.

As GKJ said, up until that goal to make it 5-3, he was breaking the game for the Flyers.

Niitty has had very little chance on the majority of the goals. Only weak goal was the Zetterberg goal banked in.

Niitty will continue to play and play a lot.

The Red Wings own the Flyers in Detroit. I don't think we've won there since Reagan was president.

The Flyers set themselves up for this...not showing up for the first half of the game and making silly mistakes, hanging the goalie out to dry...just a lot of dumb things.

And say what you want about Niittymaki playing all 11 games on the road trip. If he doesn't get a rest -- and soon -- he is going to be totally fried later in the season. If no one trusts Storr enough to even play him one game, then he shouldn't be the 3rd goalie, and it is Bob Clarke's responsibility to have someone around who should be.

Eh, I'd like to think that the Flyers were just hanging around for the first two thirds of the game. I'm kinda pissed though because aside from the Sens we were the only other team in the league without ten losses.

Rightfully should though. He'll probably start our rusty but be forced into loads of playing time because Franks done for a bit.

i agree. and its not like storr has orrible stats over his career either. whats gonna be bad is if/when nitty gets injured and we have mr inconsistant and storr as backup but because hitch doesnt trust storr, eshe wil be able tol do whatever he wants and never get pulled.

nitty and legace have pretty much the same save percentage throughout this game....

Big time #1 goalies play 10+ games in a row on a regular basis. Niitty is 26 years old, playing 12 games in a row should not be a problem at all.

Chances are he won't be playing at all during the Olympic break.

You guys are over reacting about nitty. He should get a rest soon, but he doesnt need to sit for an extended period of time, hes a young guy and as john said most starting goaltenders play A LOT, we just arent used to it here in philadelphia which will hopefully change

The team needs a solid effort at home, Saturday afternoon against Colorado. The home crowd will be pumped; time to start a new streak. Ottawa just got shut out at home tonight.
