Samsonov?

Its pretty clear Ottawa is having trouble scoring the last few weeks. Boston is going head first into a nose dive. I think they would be willing to have a shakeup.

Samsonov is an UFA after this year I believe. He is a LW and definately can score. I love the guys game so I propose the following trade options:

Samsonov for Vermette and Varada or
Samsonov for Bochenski and Varada or
Samsonov for a 1st and Varada.

What do you guys think?

He's extremely talented, but I have no real interest in acquiring him. I'm looking at his playoff stats and they're actually pretty good, but he's just too similar to the players that we have now. Boston would also ask for too much since we're in their division.

Yeah but they've been making some foolish moves lately, I think it's time to steal some good talent from them.

I would jump over the first deal in a heartbeat.
2nd and 3rd would take some thinking.

I would have no problem with an elite talent being rented for the remainder of the season, especially if all I had to give was Vermette.

Heatley-Spezza-Alfie
Sammy-Weight-Havlat
Schaefer-Fisher-Neil
Eaves-Kelly-McGrattan

absolutly sick, our 2nd line would be just as good as our first line.

I think it would just be a pipe dream though, unfortunatly.

I've never really liked Samsonov.

Too much flash and not enough substance.

If we didn't already have guys like Havlat and Spezza in the lineup, I'd consider it.

If I were Muckler and the Bruins would take Bochenski (my personal preference on who we should move at the deadline to improve our playoff chances) and Varada for Samsonov, I'd do it...however, I would definitely not trade a 1st round pick for Samsonov, nor would I move Vermette for him. As I have said, though, I would move Vermette and a 2nd rounder for Doug Weight at the deadline to solidify the Sens second line.

Personally, given Bochenski's lack of size and average skating, I don't ever see him being a good top 2 line player in the NHL, plus his skill set doesn't bode well for him succeeding as a 3rd/4th line player at the NHL level. I could be wrong, but that's what I see.

If we have to move a young player from our current roster to improve our 2nd line centre/2nd line left wing positions, I would move Bochenski before Vermette.

No, but maybe the best second line in NHL.

Is the B's are going to trade Sammy within the division, you would have to part with Mike Fischer, sorry...

Well, to be fair, I wouldn't just give away Samsonov if I were them either.

Considering Boston won't even be in the playoffs I don't think they would have a problem with it.

I wonder if they would make a move for Yashin? They need something to replace Thornton's size and a change of scenery would be good for him off the Island. Bet Islanders would be happy to move his salary for very little. Joe's salary was not much less than Yashin's.

Samsonov would be great here; but I doubt Bruins would do it. If Yashin came in (Russian) then he might stay around beantown.

No need to wonder, no one is taking Yashin.

I still like Yash, but Thornton >> Yashin.

I can't see anyone taking on the salary that Mr. Wang (the owner--not Milbury) handed out.

Wow. I thought you were leading the pack here on picking up lightweights. I'm a bit surprised with your call (which is bang on).

Down with the softies!!!!!!!!!

I don't know what gave you that impression.

Well, there are players with grit, players with skill, and those rare individuals who have both.

Good teams have a balance.

We're in a bit of a skill deficit at the moment which puts a lot of pressure on our cycle game, which becomes predictably easy to defend against.

However Samsonov may help us out in the present time, he's replaceable by Havlat in the long-run which is what my focus is on.

You're too conseravative, and politically correct. Unload once and a while, even if it means going against the home town team and players. Vent. Let it out. Tell it like it is.

Actually you pretty Even Steven. Some people drive me insane with their home town views. Not you, keep up the good work.

Unload a Bryan Murray special bulletin once and a while though.

Even if Samsonov wasn't an upcoming UFA, I doubt Ottawa does this move. The reason is quite simple, Fisher does more for this team than Samsonov could. We have plenty of scorers......Fisher brings so much else to the table that moving him would be absolutely foolish.

I have absolutely no interest in Samsonov.....if we make a move it will be for a centre.
