End of trade talks???

Does that firing means that Gainey tried doing some moves and didn't succeed since nobody wants the players we want to get rid of.

He then had to do something and that's why the firing took place. Can we succeed with the same bunch of guys but coached differently??? I guess we will know soon....

Probably could pull the trades he wanted, and like they say its esier to fire the coach than to trade the or fire the team!

Remember that these were all rumors. No one knows what gainey had in mind. This is realy breaking news to me. If gainey fired the coach before making a trade its because he believes in his players. Gainey is there to turn his players urond. He probably knows it that he aint getting much for theodore right now. Theres no point of trading theodore if were only going to get average players in return.

he might wait a little bit before trading but it won't take long before he makes some trade. The new coach will watch like the first 10 games, middle 10 and the last 10 and will make his choice as to who stays and who leaves.

Amazing that whenever BG does something it comes out of nowhere....too bad for CJ but ***** happens...I do however think that BG has a trade in the works, only time will tell for sure. One thing for sure, these guys starting tonight better start giving effort from the drop of the puck, I don't think any of them want to face BG after a heartless effort...

I think this is the beginning of seeing some major changes here, Bob is going to be on the front line and his longtime friend and former teammate and Assistant in Jarvis and longtime friend and former teammate/player in Carbs are going to have some really good player assestment meetings and they will weed out who stays, who go's and what needs to be done to get the best out of these players....all 3 of these men are on the same page, where as Julien's coaches in Green and Jarvis were appointed or were there already without his input.

This is the begining of the real re-build.

I think his presence behind the bench will bring the best out of the guys. The next 10 games are an evaluation.

Bottom line is, the players were playing Far under their abilities (followed by Juliens passive defensive system). I agree; BG will get alot more out of them.

And I also think a trade or two will still be in the cards this season. At least one of Zednik or Ribeiro will be gone IMO...... but not Theo.

I still think if there was ONE player who definitely had to go (and you had no choice, you had to choose one!!) I would trade RIBEIRO.

RIBEIRO is an anti-Gainey kind of player.

Everything that Gainey had as a Hab player (heart, character, devotion, guts, hockey sense, leadership, major team player...) is what RIBEIRO will never ever have.

Ribs has the potential to be a consistent 65-70 point player in the NHL. I just hope it's not with the Habs (I'd take a 40-50 point player with a "warrior" heart anyday over Ribs). And trade him only if we get something good in return, as well. Or else keep him, use him until a team offers something good...

Julien wasn't Gainey's pick and as we know now, didn'y have the same philosophy that Gainey has. On the flip side, Gainey and Carbonneau played together on two teams, coached the same team, GM'd the same team (Carbonneau was an assistant GM in Dallas) and I would bet that when Gainey and Carbonneau met in Colorado, Gainey told Carbonneau what he wanted and they are on the same page.

As for trades, it would make more sense to see who gets "the message" and who dosen't before making a trade. Especially after how the team played against the Sharks - lets see if they can keep playing like that first and if they do, evaluate and plug holes at the trade deadline which isn't THAT far away now anyway.

From Spector;

After firing head coach Claude Julien, Montreal Canadiens GM Bob Gainey apparently isn't finished making changes. There's talks he'll shop Jose Theodore to the Colorado Avalanche in a three-way trade that would see David Aebischer go to the Pittsburgh Penguins and another player and a first round pick landing in Montreal. Gainey's also supposedly trying to move defenceman Mike Komisarek. The Detroit Red Wings may be interested. He's also believed trying to move Mike Ribeiro to Chicago in exchange for winger Kyle Calder.

My guess is that Gainey has some trade offers on the ice.

Before you trade a guy like Jose, you really need to think about it and to investigate why you want to trade him in the first place.

So true. If Jose can keep on playing like he did last night, there is no reason to trade him. If Gainey's vote of confidence can get him back on track, he is going to be a big part of our success.
