I doubt he continues on that torrid pace that he is but if he does it might show there is even more there than I thought.

Right now I would be more surprised if he wasn't in our line up to start next year than if he isn't. I know Sather was interested in getting this guy off of us as well.

I expect at least one of these guys won't be on our roster next year but the following are developing nicely and certainly have a very realistic shot at full time employment next year: Pitlick, Kharia, and Slepy.

Toss in Caggiula in that mix and we have 4 cost controlled assets able to play in the show next year. Plus hopefully guys like Kassian and Maroon decide to stick around as well.

Plus I forgot about Paka, not as high on him as the others I have listed but a dark horse potentially as well.

Great to see progress from our prospect system and GM aquisitions.
Khaira has skills. As a very young freshman he worked his way up to the first line center spot at Michigan Tech. He had 25 points in 37 games in a tough NCAA Conference. Michigan Tech had a vet heavy team that year but Khaira along with Petan and Pietila became their top line.

Yup he showed flashes of it in the NHL last year when paired with Eberle and Nuge. I still think he's got a little more to him than just a 4th liner when he's done developing. In fact I think thats the bare minimum that he achieves. I won't be surprised if he becomes a tougher, more physical Dwight King type player who can put up 25-30 points. He skates well for a guy his size, protects the puck well, hits, fights, and has some puck skills. There's a lot to like about this player as a future bottom 6er on this team.

If he can get a half step quicker I could easily see him as a third liner who can fill in on the top two lines for stretches. He has the kind of skills where if he's on his game and his speed isn't a hindrance then he could move up and down the lineup.

I wish he didn't throw a few extras after he hit the deck, but I am glad to see him step up for a teammate.

Why? That guy took a late/cheap hit when sallinen scored, he deserved more than that.

Khaira probably played too physical. That was also the case with him during his call up in the NHL. I wonder how much of his physical plays is sustainable going forward.

Missed him pretty badly today. No standouts but LB tonight. Roadrunners blocking lots of shots. The Condors struggled with bad passes into skates or behind them. Would have been a 1-1 game except for an unlucky bounce off of a defender. Reinhart still looks slow and not overly motivated. Beck and LaLeggia showed some good flashes here and there. Long trip back from Winnepeg showed a bit tonight.

Not sure how he got injured. In Bakersfield, Khaira plays more of a 1st/2nd line scoring role. He's physical, but not overly so. I think he'll be an NHLer someday.

He was injured in last game. He is day to day. He tried practicing with the team but it did not work.

We played like crap. Passing was horrendous. Only two players were in the offensive zone. Way too many passes just like last season. Not ONE secondary shot. After the game Fleming was asked by the media about not shooting and his comment was that they would have blocked the shots. My answer is shoot the puck let them block and go for a secondary shot. Their goalie did not have to move very much. The second goal was because LB fumbled the puck and a secondary shot out it in.

Only good news is that our defense looked much better than last year. Laleggia is still terrible. He had one great play in the first. After that he could not keep the puck in the zone in a PP and he caused too many turnovers.

Back issues are no joke. Hopefully it resolves itself and doesn't become a chronic issue for him.

Wasn't it a back injury that took him out of the lineup last season too? If so that's really worrisome.

Well at least this would explain why he didn't improve on his skating over the summer.

Yup. Back issues affect your leg and lower body strength.

Depending where and how bad it is, it would just flat out affect your whole body. Lot of times you can't do any types of workouts, and the ones you can do became rather short and useless.
