This is possibly the worst game I've ever seen Eric Brewer play in an Oiler uniform. Absolutely lost defensively. Atrocious decision making in his own zone, poor penalty as a result of his poor play, and Brewer simply cannot hit the net with his shot. This is of course on the rare occasion he actually gets it past the other team's defenders. He is absolutely horrible. Brewer should be banished from the power play.
Tommy Salo also has had a poor game. He fought the puck early and gave up monster rebounds. Bad sign as the Blues came storming back with his poor play. Bergeron also is completely lost out there. Very poor puckhandling, poor play in front of their own net, and almost pulled a 'Steve Smith.' Finally, MacT should have pulled Salo when the softies started to sneak by him.
What a pathetic effort after such a great start. Total collapse and inability to stop the bleeding. Disappointing effort against a team they must beat at home. One period left but this team looks completely rattled.
Positives? Laraque is battling and creating chances. Reasoner has looked okay and Dvorak with exception to one bad turnover is skating strong and is so close to getting points...
This site is just as bad as oilfans.com. The team gets criticized when they play bad but when they win and play well, no one makes comments. Strange indeed.
It's more fun that way. It's more fun to jump on and off the bandwagon.
I'm actually impressed with their game tonight. It's been pretty solid, other than the play of Tommy Salo who I've been bashing for a while. Along with our defensive studs Cross and Ferguson who are playing instead of Semenov.
Well, there's one back... Hemsky trying to pass; scores by accident
Worst I've seen the Oilers implode since... I can't even remember. I don't know how much of the 3-0 start was good play by the Oilers and how much was awful play by Brent Johnson, but either way, the Blues totally took over the game from that point on.
huge chance by Cross
Anyway, like I was saying, I don't know how the Oilers just *let* the Blues take control of the game like that. Probably that's something Craig MacTavish could have done better. Taking the Time-Out was the right thing to do, but should have happened sooner. Pulling Salo was the right thing to do, but should have happened sooner. They were panicked and somebody needed to snap them out of it- and when nobody on the ice did it, MacTavish should have. That's my big complaint with this game.
Anyway, the beer spill is cleaned up and the cat has gone for a nap, so I'm moving on to hard liquor.
