I believe the mid-season update they had to their service intended to broadcast 60fps. If I remember it right, they eventually fixed the streams (it was initially a **** show) so it worked properly at 60fps on any platform you watched on.

The Czech - Russia game is on now on my Apple tablet but can't get it on the Apple TV . Maybe the Apple TV app hasn't been updated ?

Ah, the ********! The NHL app has just been updated, with big fanfare for the Gimmick Cup...

!!! but every single game is blacked out for me !!!

I'm not aware of preparation games being broadcast anywhere close to where I live, but even if they were, blackouts are completely unacceptable for online subscriptions in 2016.

What a way to reward loyal subscribers... I hope the Gimmick Cup will turn out to be the colossal failure that it deserves to be. Many more players will drop out before it gets underway, hopefully, reducing it to the travesty that it already is.

Any UK users able to give any feedback? I assume some games are blacked out due to Premier Sports but does that include the replay of those games? Also when you watch a game from the previous day, does it tell you the score? cause that would ruin things for me.

Last year I had a free subscription with a Rogers phone plan, is it still the same this year or do I have to purchase it?

Centre Ice is the Cable/Sat package for Television, so all feeds will be in 60FPS.

For NHL.TV 60FPS feeds are definitely alive and well on the latest Apple TV Gen 4. I cannot confirm about other devices.

My big question is, is NHL.tv included with a center ice subscription like it should be yet? or at least massively discounted?

I just cancelled cause I dont know wtf is going on?

I see the yearly price is 131.99

But if I do the monthly of 24.99, they charge September THROUGH AND INCLUDING APRIL.

Thats 8 months which is about 200 bucks.

Are they ****ing out of their minds?!

I think they're either completely incompetent or simply don't want customers. Not sure which is worse.

It is nowhere near out of the ordinary for a service to offer a discounted yearly rate compared to the monthly rate. So I'm not sure what the big deal is here.

Sure. By maybe 10 to 20%.

This is what, a 40% hike for the monthly?

Yeah I dont think so. They are asking for 2.76 months of extra pay for instalments?

Where did you find that pricing at? I can't seem to find pricing on Center Ice or NHL.TV

Wait, do you do a monthly subscription? Which months do you purchase?

If you have it through every month, why not go with the yearly subscription and not pay extra?

Yeah, I am not really getting the rub here either. Seems like a normal thing for any subscription service to do.

The months they ask you to pay are September (No regular season games mind you), All the way through April (where NHL.TV doesnt get you playoff games either).

Let's take the NFL ticket for example.

It is 6 payments of 44.99 OR one time payment of 269.94. No savings and no extra. But that's not the standard.

Now let's take insurance premiums as an example.

I either pay 136.99 for 6 months or a one time payment of 791.94 I pay extra because there is an extra 5 dollar fee for having a payment plan. The savings exist but not a huge massive amount.

Even NHL center ice for direct tv is the same. It has a monthly pricing model that equals the the one time payment.

Now let's take the xbox live model.

I dont mind paying extra for a monthly plan, but the difference is a massive 70 which is more than 50% of the one time payment.

All I am saying is that it is a terrible pricing model. It's not that hard to understand.

What's the incentive then to go with the direct tv model vs the NHL.TV model? NHL.TV pigeon holes you into annual payment plan. It's pretty inconvenient.

So don't start paying until October and stop paying when the regular season ends?

I don't understand the outcry here. Who says you have to pay for September?

The email specified the first charge would have been September 15.

I think if you start paying in October you lose out on the early bird thing.

As for April, they typically bill you at the beginning of the month IIRC.

Marketing 101, they're trying to lock you into the season rate, verses the monthly. So they make the monthly distasteful money wise, in hope that you go with the full season rate. I would venture to guess that that type of marketing is working.

You were on an automatic payment plan, going month to month.

If you remove yourself from the automatic plan then you don't pay the first month. You don't like how high the rate is, okay, sure.

Also were you a subscriber before? They said it was the same price last year, but you are now outraged? I am confused at your position because you aren't making it clear where you go to this point to begin with.

Well. Here is the thing, Last year the year sub cost 159.99 and I was on a payment plan and I paid 7 times which equaled 174.93.

Difference is 14.94.

So essentially, they decreased the annual plan and increased the monthly plan.

Not everyone can budget in 131.99 Right away when I have a crap ton of other expenses (Married).

From my end anyway, no it is not. I am cancelling and going with Direct TV package instead.
