Martin St. Louis

He's only making 1.5M this season, and will be an unrestricted free agent. You think Tampa Bay is going to give him a long term contract or going to play the free agent game with him? I think he's the most underrated & underpaid player in NHL right now.

St.Louis won't be a unrestricted free agent for another 3 years(unless the UFA age is lowered). I do agree though, Tampa's getting a great deal.

Good point. I didn't think about his age. Do you see any team going for him next year? He proved that he can score in playoffs as well as in the regular season. I wonder how much he's going to be worth.

If he's a RFA, nobody will go after him. The last time any team went after a RFA was when the Canes signed Fedorov to an offer sheet 5 years ago.

As for his worth, if he puts up another 70+ point, 30 + goals season he could easily seek around $3-4 mil per season. Ray Whitney, another small, offensively talented winger signed with the Red Wings for roughly $3.5 mil per season on a 4 year deal, but St.Louis is a more proven goal scorer, so he could likely ask for at least the same, maybe more.
