I don't know , Perez impressed me more . Altrough we can see the skills are there with Kosty .
Perez played with Saks and Kovy, Kosty played with Bonk and Bulis. For me the ceiling is higher with Kosty, even though you didn't see him that much yesterday, he will become a better player.
Though by no means did I lose faith in Perez, as a matter of fact it would be interesting to see him in Montreal with the new management but there's definately too many bodies already. We need to make some room.......
I'd say that last game, you should look at kostitsyn's first shift if you have it on tape. He basically disorganized the whole dallas team with his forecheck. He started putting pressure on the RD then they lost control, got back behind the net and after trying to clear the zone, Andrei was still there until at the end he came back for a third time and prevented the stars to reach the red-line all by himself. Normally, thats what Sundstrom does so its encouraging.
Although they're not as good and will most likely never come close as Bure and Kovalev. The comparison is somewhat accurate.
Perez (as Bure) is small, quick, and his legs are always moving at full speed. His stickhandling is good and has a decent shot.
Kost (like Kovy) is taller, not quite as quick but takes long strides and gets decent speed. He can dangle, has a wicked wrist shot, and has good vision.
What you guys must understand is that they are trying to establish confidence in the management Perezhogin is 2 years older and is still establishing himself and his confidence is down (Thanks Claude!). But while Perezhogin is 2 years older than Kostitsyn and there isnt much of a difference other than excelleration and speed that says a lot of Kostitsyn. We have to be patient but just like Vanek and Zherdev and Carter and so on, they have all had their struggles and eventually he will establish his abilities properly.
Both Perez and Kost looked good for the first 2-3 games they every played for the Habs. What happened? They did what the coach wanted and tried to get thier defencive game going. As Julien coached they to first learn the total defence game then we will let you go for the net as you wish. Now Gainey has changed all that, it's all about speed speed and more speed. Now both Perez and Kost have to relearn to keep it going at top speed and ready for an ATTACK at a moments notice.
This part of thier game is exactly what got them to top prospect status. As long as Gainey stays the course and gives both thier chance to adapt both will be true assets near the playoffs.
You just wait until both have thier first 5 goals under thier belt under the Gainey system and realy become Habs assets.
By the way, lets not forget Pleks. He also will be turned loose and he has the best speed of all.
