It's not Coaches Corner

But Toews was interviewed in the intermission by CBC

He is so well spoken.

So after years and years of trying to get no touch icing... Now cherry is saying it should be waved off if the guy is winning the race for the iced puck and lets up? All that accomplishes is bringing back bad boarding hits

And trying to say that the Columbus player should have kept skating forward into a second Leaf rather than trying to cut back with the puck? Makes no sense from a hockey perspective.

Also, who was the final dress up walk in supposed to be anyway?

No. He said it should be waved off if the defenseman doesn't even try to play the puck. Everyone who has played EA hockey knows what he's talking about

If you're miles ahead of the opponent, why artificially create a race?
The clips he showed as I recall often had the defending player between the faceoff circle and the blue line and coasting back after it... But there was a trailing attacker around the blue line.
You force the d to play that puck and you're right back to old school icing collisions because you give time for the attacker to gain ground.

Basically Cherry was complaining about it being whistled dead when at one point he was a proponent for no touch icing in the interest of player safety.
