Gainey has a sense of humour?

Quote:
While no one expects whoopee cushions and other gags to pop up in the Canadiens dressing room with Gainey now at the helm, Modano did get to see all sides of the Hall-of-Famer during their time together.

“Don’t get me wrong, Bob is a pretty serious and reserved guy, but he can surprise you every now and then,” said Modano. “He definitely has a sense of humor. It may be a dry one, but he’ll pull a fast one every once in a while when the guys are least expecting it. You’ll see.”

I just don't see him laughing or cracking a joke...

I guess he tells a joke just like he pulls a trade: "when the guys are least expecting it. You’ll see."

He always struck me as possessing a very sardonic and low-key sense of humour as evidenced by the firing of Claude julien. I bet he had a ball after that one.

I've told the story before of how I walked into a bar in Feb. 1976 and most of that year's team was watching a replay of their New Year's Eve game against Red Army and having a few beers while the rest of the team was at the All Star game. Jimmy Roberts came in late and was making a fuss about having to chip in the same ammount as everyone else. After they razzed him for a bit, Gainey just said, 'I'll pay for you Jim, but drink it fast'. From what I remember of that day, I was mostly in awe of what I accidentally walked into, Lambert was the source of the most of the humour.

Gainey's sense of humour is him putting all the players in a single hotel room with one bed on a roadtrip. That's how he weeds out the men from the boys.
