GDT (1/18): DET @ CBJ, 7:00 p.m.

Well, I guess I'll start another GDT...

Columbus is coming on of late but they'll lose a close one to the Wings. I see it being a situation like the last meeting where the Jackets take the early lead but the Wings pull it out in the end.

Wings 4 (Zetterberg, Shanahan, Lebda, Holmstrom)
Jackets 3 (Nash 2, Chimera)

I agree. I think this will be a tough one. Blue Jackets have been playing very well and are tough at home. I say Wings 4 Blue Jackets 3

Z might not play - bum hip.

I'll say 5-4 Wings in a shootout.

Shanny, Sammy, Schneider, Cleary, and Williams for the Wings

Nash, Nash, Nash, and Vyborny for the Jackets

Shootout:
Datsyuk (goal)
Williams (goal)
Shanahan (miss)

Nash (goal)
Zherdev (miss)
Fedorov (miss)

Red Wings RW Henrik Zetterberg did not skate because of what Babcock described as a "bump" in the right hip, incurred during Monday's practice. As for Zetterberg's availability tonight, coach Mike Babcock said he didn't think the injury "is any big deal, but we're not fooling around." - Detroit Free Press

Though one tonight, Columbus playing better now with Nash in the line-up and Fedorov has found his game also!

Still with Shanahan on fire I believe we can win this one

4 – 2 for the Wings:

Wings:
Shanahan, Lidstrom, Schneider and Datsyuk

Columbus:
Nash and Zherdev

Didn't Hank have a hip injury during training camp & most of the preseason? Hopefully this won't be a cronic problem this season, I'd rather he take some time off if it reduces the chances of another flareup.

uh oh venturing into enemy territory....

who is going to be in goal tonight for the Wings? My guess is that Leclaire will be in net tonight for the Jackets since its seemed him and Denis have been rotating lately

Tonight we get reportedly get Foote back, this i believe will limit the amount of shots on goal...last time Leclaire was in net(5-4 win @ FLA) he faced an insane amount (48 saves on 52 shots) there is no way we can allow that against the Wings, with or without Zetterberg.

The Jackets have been playing well lately 6-3-1 and i look for the streak to continue i see it being 4-3 Jackets

CBJ-Zherdev-2, Nash, Chimera
Det-Shanahan, Lidstrom, Holmstrom

For the record, CBJ almost always go with Balastic as first shooter in a shootout. I don't think he's missed yet this year.

I think Ozzie is getting the nod tonight. Z-berg will probably be out.

3-3 Tie.

Wings win in the OT.

i think we may be surprised tonight, cbj is rolling. i think about 90% of the people on here have picked the wings to win every game so far, so i'll buck tradition.
not that i don't think they can win, but picking us to win every single night doesn't do it for me... that and i want to see more 'by the mere mentioning of the fact that ozzie didn't play well and let in soft goals, you hate him and are totally ignorant' spars granted i'd also love to see him get a shutout and shut everyone up, so i guess i'll be happy after this game no matter what.

4-2 "blue jacket, green jacket, who gives a ****s"

Nash (x2), Zherdev, Balastik
Lang, Schneids

Great game all around from the entire team. Oz made some saves early when it was scoreless, definitely nice to see him get the SO. Would've been better had I not been stuck listening to FSNOhio announcers. Ah well, great game from the team.

just when we get a little MO there it goes again. All the CBJ can do is file this one away and come out swinging against the Blues on friday

At least you're a classy CBJ fan and didn't start saying you hate Holmstrom and how classless all Red Wings fans are. Sheesh, the other fans on your board are harsh when it comes to that sorta stuff, just glad that you're not like them. I understand they were upset about the Octopus being thrown on the ice,but that doesn't make all Wings fans classless. You guys certainly made it an interesting first period and had some scoring chances, but unfortunately for them Ozzie was making the saves to keep it scoreless Anyways, nice to hear from a fan like yourself. Good luck against the Blues on friday.

Great game by Ozzie and the boys! I was so happy to see him bounce back from the Dallas fiasco and win with a shutout. It was a fun game to watch and the guys played some of the best hockey they have played. Congrats!

Congratz to Ozzy

He needed a break and was awesome in goal tonight!

Nice to see that we got a solid game from the guys even without Zetterberg

haha, ohh Holmstrom the thing about it that i cant understand is why we didnt body him up AT ALL!?!?! when you guys were on the PP.....i mean Westcott probably cant body him up but im sure Foote has seen Tomas play a time or two and Suchy held Jagr in check for the most part when they came here a couple days ago so i just dont get it.

I really didnt care too much for the octupuss being tossed on the ice but thats more adding insult to injury after getting your butt handed to you 4-0 in your own barn.

I am excited for the future of this team if they can put 3 solid periods together night in night out. They looked like a veteran squad coming back @ FLA after giving up a lead on the road, then they turn around and lay down against a Division Rival @ HOME.....once they put all the pieces together i think you guys would be hard pressed to put another 4-0 score on the road again

Great game by the Wings.

Ozzie was great - the Chimera breakaway save was incredible, plus there was the whole first period. Now, if only he could string together a few good starts in a row...

Lidstrom had the puck the entire game. I don't care what the stats said, how much time he was on the ice, whatever. He had the puck the entire freaking game. For all those, myself included, who wondered if he was done after he bumbled through the first 2 months of the season, it looks like he was just shaking off the rust. How dumb was Vyborny to hook him 50 times in a row on that play - was it the third period? That could have been 3 or 4 penalties.

I thought Williams had a great game. He had the shot that was tipped in by Homer, and there was a play, I think in the third, where he was on the point for a PP and the Jackets were rushing the Wings zone and Williams made a good defensive play to take out the guy going to the net. Maybe a sign that he's getting more accustomed to playing the point and getting back on D.

Homer, ah, Homer....why can't he play like this every game? Or, maybe more importantly, why can't the rest of the team get shots to the front of the net as often as they did in this one? I think they may have been aided by the fact that the Jackets overpursued in their own end too much and left the slot open. Teams that give the Wings fits usually jam 3 or 4 guys between the circles and the crease and clog everything up, and the Wings usually just start firing from the boards 100 feet away at bad angles.

Great game, boys.

You mean like his 5 game winning streak in late December?
