Ovechkin quote on Markov...

I know he said it in another interview, but apparentely TSN interviewed him and he mentionned it again...

Ovechkin says San Jose's Scott Hannan and Montreal's Andrei Markov are the toughest defenders he's faced.

Makes me miss Markov even more

Now if only Crosby would say the same thing so we know it's really true.

A nice compliment from a world-class talent. At the risk of hyperbole, we are completely screwed without Markov.

I don't want to be negative here but I thought I heard a MIMIMUM of 3 weeks...sounds like 3 weeks is a best case scenario

*shrugs* Been saying this for ages, Markov is one of the best one-on-one guys in the game today. Sure, he gets beaten now and again, like anyone else, but he also disposses guys all the time. He's definitely the most underrated defender in the game, and while the Toronto-centric NHL media will never admit it, Markov should probably be an outside contender for the Norris this season.

If he were playing in Toronto or New York, you can bet yer bottom dollar his name would be on the list, that's for sure. McCabe is solid, but I'll take Markov any day of the week.

Same here

Completely agree...Markov doesn't get near the attention he deserves in terms of how good he is, people just think he's a PP QB, when the most impressive part of his game is his defensive ability...and when you take into account the fact that he hasn't been playing defense for very long, you realize that the sky is the limit with him

Pretty sure Plekanec's injury was scheduled to be for 4-6 weeks.

If you ask Crosby he's gonna say something like: 'There are a lot of good defensemen in the NHL, the elite of world class players are here and that's why I'm so proud to play in this league and blah blah blah.'

Ovechkin > Crosby , including (especially?) interviews.

You can see afull (uncut) interview on the front page of today's Washington Post (washingtonpost.com) right now actually. (btw: this paper is the last newspaper in the US with investigative journalists, and not just blurbing out press releases )

What a player.

I think they announced 5 weeks for Plekanec no?

He told me 5 weeks anyways.

He'll be playing again next week hopefully.

Hopefully he doesn't take too much time finding back his groove when he comes back to the line-up.
