David Desharnais

I think we should make an attempt on signing him or drafting him , hes really playing well as is Maxime Boisclair.

Those two players probably have major weaknesses in their game because nobody drafted or signed them even if they are burning the Q...

I heard Boisclair's skating. I don't know for Desharnais.

I'm not saying not to sign FA out of college/CHL. Just that they have to be good ones.

I don't know enough about those two to say if I want them or not, but I know I wanted Andre Benoit.

Oh i can answer to those questions..

Desharnais : a Mike Ribeiro type of player, but with leadership. He's soft, but a good leader...

Boisclair : In the Q = Power Forward, but in the NHL it won'T be the same. HE's the kind of player that talks.. talks.. and talks.. He's a good player but a Dagenais type of player, with more upside..

Pierre-Marc Guilbault and Ben Mondou of the Shawinigan Cataractes told me that one week ago

Pierre-Marc = I want him to sign a contract with the Habs. Really. Nic Désilet went to the training camp, but was cut. I wasn't suprise.

But Boisclair could be very very good in a habs uniform. Not Desharnais.

Oh and please B.G.... Draft Francis Pare in the 9th round.. PLEASE

Desharnais is 5'7/170lbs, not exactly the type of player the Habs need.

I was wondering myself at the time of the Carbo hiring if we'd suddenly become interested in some Chicoutimi players. Patrick Coulombe is another guy now on Chicoutimi ready to graduate.

I don't really believe that any of them have great potential for ever playing in the NHL, but I still like the idea of supporting talented junior players and at least finding out what they can do. With guys like Bouillon, Robidas, Ryder, etc, it has panned out well, with many others it never did, of course. But it's not like our organisation is particularly full-up with prospects. Even if we can fill a Hamilton roster (right now we can't, but we should have enough graduating junior draftees to manage it next year), we can still invite guys to camp and consider making more use of the ECHL.

Boisclair is a bit slow, I think more willing to play in the danger areas and rough it up than Dagenais ever was, but he always seems to find ways to score. Tampa didn't want to sign him, though, and they aren't quite bursting at the seams with talented forward prospects either. Desharnais' size is a pretty big strike against him, but it shouldn't stop us from considering him for the farm, per Patrick Lebeaus of the past. And it will be pretty tought to argue for a spot for Coulombe, given the presence already of smaller guys like Benoit and Sanford. But if the Carbo connection has any meaning, at least maybe we can throw these guys a chance in training camp.
