Hope they taped their sticks this time. Looks like the puck bounced of Pock's stick. Weekes could have still saved it. Went for the deke. Why was Pock out there? Should have been paired with Strudwick.

Either you don't remember that far back or you've simply forgotten. Lemieux was always a little ***** about it. Remember how he called the NHL a garbage league? Mario was always *****ing and crying about crap. Yeah, he'd take a dive if he thought he could get away with it. Problem is when you are 6'4" and 230 its tough to pull off being tugged down by a little hook from a guy whose 30 or so pounds smaller than you are.

You wanna look at a classy guy, look no further than Gretzky. Whatever Mario had to fight through Wayne had it much worse. Never *****ed or moaned about it either. Never threw a fit are acted like he was above anyone else. Lemeiux always was and always will be a punk. I guess Cindy Crosby is learning from the best.

I think the reasoing is to give him some confidence by sticking with him. Otherwise he'll be pretty much worthless to us. I think this is a wise move, but it makes me cringe thats for sure. We'll all hold our collective breath while the Pens are in our zone.

NY needs to win this one. Starting Weekes without having any practice,(except this am), and after his crap games of late, is just not right. Pit is coming off a seven game loosing streak, and Crybaby Crosby has only 1 goal in that time. Look for him to light up Weekes with or without defence. The only way Weekes gets a win is if the other team never takes a shot on goal all game. Put Hollweg in the lineup, but don't play Orr, NY needs to score early and often and bury this team.

I guess this is another loss to a bad team (although CBJ has been better lately with Nash), because of Weekes. My prediction the Pens have 5 shots in the first and lead 5-0 after the first. We need to get this trash out of here. It's pretty much a given that we lose if he starts, he's a terrible excuse for an AHL goalie, much less an NHL goalie. We lose 7-2. Because after the 5-0 period Weekes settles in a little bit and proceeds to recieve a 40 minute (not counting intermission) butt kissing by JD about how he settled in.

Weekes must win tonight. Lundqvist must get some rest, either before or after the Olympics.

Lundqvist hasn't played since Saturday afternoon, I think that is plenty of rest.

We need these two points so we we play NJ and Buffalo on Sunday and Tuesday we can widen/shorten the point gaps on those teams. Playing Weekes is like asking for a loss. Renney just might prove how stupid he really is playing a terrible Weakes in net tonight.

Weekes can blow this game. Crosby will run wild or score a soft OT goal.

It's plenty of rest for Lundqvist...

but, you need to look forward - both in terms of getting Weekes going, and in terms of in which games you want Lundvist to start. Jersey and Buffalo are no-brainers - does he get his tune-up today and rest the next three days and start Sunday night, or does he get his tune-up on Saturday (and he has shown an ability, albeit once, to play well on the second night of a back-to-back).

Personally, I don't have a preference or an answer, and as I mentioned, in my mind, there's no way I can criticize Renney on any decision he makes here. This isn't an easy one, I believe.

We are in deep with Weekes either way. Either start him a decent amount, but he's not very good and have worse chance of winning in those games. Or you start him rarely and have a guarenteed loss in those games because I might as well start, that's how bad he is after layoffs.

For what it's worth...

Weekes has started 2 games against PITT, has a 2.17 GAA and a .917 save %. Granted that was a different Weekes, but I'm sure Renney's looking that. He was pretty good in November when he played more, and perhaps he's tuned up and ready to go. In any event, the Rangers' defense needs to tighten up, and needs to play better than it did on Monday night.

Yup...He has done well against the Pens this year, plus this will be good for him to prove that he can hold down the fort if he plays every now and then...

Sather does need to know...

what Weekes can do. Again, this is a tough stretch, before the Olympics, and after the Olympics, and this team cannot do it with one goaltender.

Balej...

a tired goalie is not an effective goalie. And in Lunqvists' last three starts, he hasn't looked like the goaltender of the previous couple months (10 goals against, and .905 was his best save percentage). He hasn't been making all the saves that he had previously been making. His time needs to be managed properly. He needs to start more than he sits, yes, but you want the guy to be there down the stretch and want him to be effective in his starts too.
