Wow. Weekes lets in one bad goal after not playing for 10 days and the guy is the worst goalie in the league according to our fans. What a privledge it is to play for NY huh? The rest of the goals against in that game were on the defense and not Weekes.

Lundqvist is a phenom and the future. But he is a rookie that cannot play 82 games a season. He looked shaky his last two. We need a tandum down the stretch. The "fans" boo him when he gets home starts and now everyone wonders why he is getting two in a row on the road. Same fans that boo Sather during a successful season on Messier's night. I'm tired of hearing these repeated complaints that are mired in subjectivity. We can't play physical and Weekes is worse than Mazzoti. We absolutely have to see Weekes under normal circumstances and tonight is the best opportunity to do it. You'd think after the uproar over Hossa was silenced by his two goals that the boards would be a little more patient when it comes to Renney's personnel moves. I really hope there's a silent majority on the boards that just don't post replies on these tired subjects.

Good post.

Though Weekes hasn't just had one bad game. He's been shaky since early December. That being said, our best and only option is to be patient with him. The only way he'll regain his confidence is if the coaching staff (and even the fans) shows confidence in him by giving him starts. I'm not saying make him the #1 over Lundqvist, but I'm all for starting him tonight and seeing how he reacts.

Renney decided to start Lundqvist before all the tears melted the ice.

nice carry out of hte zone by pock, but if he had misplayed that puck in his own end it was trouble, since his man was behind him

decent road period. would like to see some more offensive pressure, especially from the jagr line, but not bad

eh, he didn't have to make major saves really, so i don't know if i'd go as far to say "great period"

made the saves he had to though

He made some nice deflection saves and saves through traffic, i don't think he had an easy period, thought he faced more then 9 shots though.

So so 1st period, nice saves by Lundqvist, nice goal by Prucha. Crosby deked Poti out of his skates on that one rush. NY needs to get the pp going and Ruchinsky can't anymore dumb penalties.
