No one should be deadlifting 500 lbs. Hmph.

Man invented simple machines for that sorta thing.

Yeah, if you're looking for a prolapsed anus it is . There's no functional benefit to dead lifting that much.

Sometimes I just stare at these meatheads in the gym grunting trying to deadlift these enormous weights. They can't even do 2 proper reps. I'm thinking what is the purpose of this stupidity. I can understand to an extent if you're an athlete, an Olympian with an ultimate goal. But just lifting like a neanderthal for the sake of lifting can only ruin your body in the long run.

Personal records, man.

It's the purest form of challenge - facing off against yourself.

Lifting heavy and pushing yourself is fun.

That's why most people do it. Also because it's a testament to your progress and growth.

I don't bother people that don't like gyms or weight training. To each his own. But when someone belittles someone else for pushing their limits at the gym and qualifies people in better shape than them as "meatheads", I'm thinking, maybe you're the one that needs to take some pride in your body.

It's the only one you got, after all. Of course, I'm not talking about ego lifting here, where you're doing yourself more harm than good.

Cook more. Cut out something that is predominantly found with fast food - like soda. Cutting out soda is really easy. Then you cut out french fries (also really easy). Then, within a month, you face a choice - do you go for the limp salad and water bottle with a super salty burger at McDo, or do you eat somewhere else entirely?

I've cut out fast food, so now whenever I do eat there I feel comfortable knowing that a) my bowels will make me regret it entirely and b) I won't be tempted to go back again any time soon.

LOL So true.

I'd say be more regular about making yourself lunches, I find it the hardest to stick to my "diet" when I don't have a lunch because, really, what restaurant offers you something healthy quickly?

I'm offended you think I don't pride in my body lol. I think I'm in better shape than any meathead out there and in shape for what exactly?? Yes people are entitled to do what they want and live how they want, but I'm also entitled to they think they are being stupid. The same way I find eating contests stupid when I see poeple trying to shove 300 hot dogs down their throat in 90 seconds, I feel the same way when I see somebody deadlifting more than he should. Only harm will come of that.

Im a meathead, since I deadlift "more than I should". Lets not even get in the "shape" thing, because that is quite juvenile.

Were happy you have an opinion, now move over because we dont give a crap about it. You comparing powerlifting/strongmen to eating contest speaks volume.

I was going to fast today. I made it to 1200pm.

I get to a meeting, free pizza. I stop fasting.

For perfectionist meatheads like you, an indulgence, a cheat day, means a chocolate-flavoured protein bar.

Been doing pretty good on my diet for the past 5 weeks but last weekend was wedding anniversary trip to Quebec City and lets just say that the diet pretty much went in the gutter. Saturday night we had dinner at Ashton as we got in a bit later than we had hoped. I had a bacon cheeseburger and a poutine. I took the "regular" size. God damn it that thing was a lot bigger than I thought... but ate it all anyways. I should have taken the bébé size I believe it was. Who calls their portion sizes mini, bébé and regular instead of small, medium, large. I thought that regular would be just that, regular, instead it was family size, more or less... and the poutine was just ok, nothing to write home about. Sunday, had breakfast at Cora and some gelatto for lunch in le Vieux Quebec, a 20oz beer in a pub and we ended the day at Boulay Bistro Boreal with an appetizer, a main course and a dessert with all three courses being really good... oh and a cocktail which was also pretty good. That was a $150 dinner that was well worth it.

Now back to regular scheduled programming *diet...

Next time I'll compare them to professional bodybuilders, maybe you'll be less offended.

I dunno about you, but I'd be more than thrilled to lift 500 lbs off the ground. You must feel so damn powerful. Ugh!!

I'm thinking like most athletes of similar sports you shouldn't be over 12-13%.

Not sure if there is a minimum but I'm guessing not a lot hockey players will be under 8-9%, anything under that I don't think would be ideal for hockey.

Didn't think I would read a post this dumb today. We're all worse off from you taking the time to express your "opinion".
