Souray Ejection

I didnt see any hair pulling and wow did he pop open McCarty.... man.. not fair because now the Flames are gonna forecheck our defence to death and we'll be really tired. I don't think he should have been ejected, it says on NHL.com that the 5 min extra was a "attemp to injure" penalty.. i hope this doesnt come back to bite us in the ***.

Looked like he elbowed McCarty in the side of the face and then eye gouged him.

They said on RDS that this major was because his wrist protector cut Macarthy. According to the rules that is an automatic match penatly for intent to injure. Boo...

His wrist brace was the reason for him being thrown out... can't fight with it on.

NHL rule 56b

(NOTE 4) Any player wearing tape or any other material on his hands (below the wrist) who cuts or injures an opponent during an altercation will receive a match penalty under Rule 43 -- Attempt to or Deliberate Injury of Opponents in addition to any other penalties imposed including penalties for fighting under this rule.

My friend were talking about that.. and we all agreed, Souray rearranging Mcarthy's face really made Darren look prettier.

Check out the left hand. A rule is a rule. He should know not to fight with that thing on.

Nice job rearranging McCarty's face though!

IMO if Darcy Tucker didn't get suspended for using his helmet (in his hand) to punch a guy then Souray won't get suspended for his infraction. I'm not a fan of this "intent to injure" rule when fighting. Was Mccarty trying to give Souray a massage? I don't think so. When two players drop the gloves they intend on hurting the other guy. If a guy causes another to lose his teeth, get stitches, or breaks his nose as a result of a fight and that's not called intent to injure then neither is this. When you fight you are chancing injury or something more serious if connecting in the right spot. This was clearly "unintentional" on Souray's part as he missed with the punch and his wrist band scraped McCarty's face.

This is not a suspension. If it is then Gainey better whip out the Darcy Tucker tape using his helmet as a weapon and cutting the guy ontop of it.

This rule says nothing about flying helmets but its rathar black and white. I'm not very optimistic that souray will be allowed to play on saturday

devastating loss

If Chara didn't get suspended for his cheap shot on Ivanains(sp?), I doubt Souray will.

I'm not certian how not allowing a guy to fight with anything that could possibly be a weapon is a stupid rule, but I am very happy Souray will not be suspended. Hopefully he comes out pissed on Saturday, scores a hat trick, and help buries the Canucks.

It was a stupid thing for Souray to do, but frankly it was the highlight of the night for Habs fans. How often do we get to see somebody on the Habs actually play with passion and lay into somebody? Souray's making up for his early season play in my books, and I'm liking him more by the day.

Anybody got a pic of Souray with McCarty's blood all over him? That'd be a better pic for TSN to use in their article rather than that overused one of Souray looking like a goofball.

Does anybody think that the "brace" he had on his hand is what cut McCarty open? I don't. He'd have to be making contact with his wrist rather than his knuckles, and he'd probably break his wrist that way.

It looked to me like Souray missed with the punch and connected with the elbow. Watch the video if you can find it.

I guess he seriously wanted to rearrange McCarty's face more than he feared a suspension. He still should have known better.

Wrist brace or not, all I can say is that Souray probably let out all his anger concerning his divorce with his wife and really gave it to Darren. Darren pretty much got 3 nice punches the entry fight while Sheldon kept hitting him square in the face. I don't know if the equipment caused the cuz because Sheldon really landed a nice shot in the same spot 2 seconds before the bleeding started. It may have cost us the game in a way, but I look back on it and I think that maybe now teams will start being a little intimidated by us after the fight. Certainly was a good fighting night yesterday...Did anyone see the McGratton fight also?
