Ahead of pace:
TOR Auston Matthews 5g/4gp (50 in 40 pace)
I'd be surprised if anyone gets 50 points in 50 games.

Panik and Read continue their quest, Matthews evens out and is no longer ahead of pace, and Pastrnak falls off the list.

Well, thankfully you're here to be the voice of reason. It sure is a shame someone started a fun thread, and it would be an even bigger shame if people were to enjoy it for as long as it lasts.

Thanks for snuffing out some fun before someone accidentally enjoyed the hockey season.

1. This thread has been made for more than 1 year, it's a tradition on HF.
2. Of course they are. The fun is to see for how long they are gonna maintain it.
3. McDavid is not the most likely to score 50 in 50.

I'd be surprised if McDavid scored 40 goals. He's more of a playmaker than a goalscorer.

Honestly, this should just be a 50 goal in 82 game thread. At most, 2 players will do that. By the 15 game mark, no way anyone will still be at goal per game pace.

Yeah I would agree with this... for now it's fun to see which players can maintain a goal a game pace, and for how long, but obviously that'll be over after around a dozen games. At that point I feel like it'd be smart to change it to track the players who are on pace for 50 in a full season.

I remember when Alex Steen was on pace to break Gretzky's goal scoring record. Those were the days.

Tanner Pearson has 4 goals in 3 games, if that counts. He was suspended for the Kings' first two games. Otherwise, he has 4 goals in the Kings' first 5 games.

According to the OPs stips, it goes by team games. Not sure why.

Because 50 games used to be the full season. When Richard got that 50 in 50, it was a single season record. There were no extra games available to make up if a player got hurt.
So it goes by the team's first 50 games rather than the player's to emulate the way it was when Richard got the first 50 in 50.

Richard Panik fails to continue the streak, only Mattews is left on pace. If Matthews scores next game he and Panik will tie for who made it the longest before getting eliminated.

For the record last years longest 50 in 50 on pace list was Jamie Benn with 8 in 8.
